I'm currently working on a development environment for Factorio modders.
I already have some nice icons for the UI but the software itself would need a nice and unique icon too.
You can find screenshots of the software by clicking the link in my signature.

It should be a PNG with the sizes: 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64, 128x128, 256x256 and 512x512

How should it look like? Just four letters?

I have no idea. Just a creative and unique icon that somehow fits to factorio.
if possible without letters as this will look ugly in frame title icons on windows.

Its not bad, but it only looks cool on high resolutions.
it's really hard to guess what it should be when in actual use.

maybe this fits your style and idea ... higher resolutions need more work and details - ME = Mod-Editor, you can change or remove
need to test against your gray-background

I am unable to make things like these.
but how about a factory, with a diagonal line where one side is like a blueprint and the other side is a filled factory?

Sort of like showing the skeletons of an animation vs the actual animation.

Would probably use another color scheme, but thats roughly the idea i had in mind.

You can download file, inkscape and change the colors. You can also export this vector file to any dimensions picture. Free to use, free to change
