Here is a Numbers (Mac) spreadsheet to calculate the power requirements of a production unit. It determines how many solar panels, steam engines or steam turbines are required. It does not give any information about nuclear reactors because they do not generate or use electricity. For solar panels it gives you how many you need if running just during daylight or how many are needed to charge accumulators to run at night and the number of accumulators needed at night. It takes into consideration modules and beacons.

This was developed for determining power requirements for a single production unit, because of that there is a limit on the complexity that it can handle, mostly because of modules. An example of what it can handle is a row of electric furnaces where the middle furnaces have x beacons covering them and the ends have y beacons. Or if your green circuit unit uses different modules in the wire assemblers then the assemblers for the actual circuit board. It can handle two different configurations of anything that has modules. However adding additional configurations should not prove difficult.

However if you don't use modules or if you always use the same two configurations for everything, then you can plug in the counts for all entities and it should tell you the power requirements for your whole factory.

Here is a made up example for a row of 6 beaconed miners with more beacons on the ends (5 beacons on each side with 2 more on each end [total 14]). What is not shown in the screen shot but is in the calculation are the 14 beacons.

There is also a bonus tab to calculate some minor train depo information.

Note the forum forced me to add .txt to the file name. Do not open it as a text file, it is a Numbers spreadsheet.
