[0.17.51] Crash when using console

I tried associating character with command:
I was hovering cursor over character while entering this command but it didn't associated me so:

/c game.player.associate_character(game.player.selected)- I pressed ~ to open console
- Pressed ↑
- Backspaced until "/c game.player.ass" but was too lazy to retype "character()" so pressed ↑
- Tried to select "game.player.selected" but the cursor indicating where you type wasn't moving
- It wasn't moving because factorio crashed
