[0.16.27] Logistics tutorial - Far out roboport causes crash

I was doing the Basic Logistics System tutorial, and I had spaced out the 2nd roboport corner tip from the first one I placed (like a checkerboard square). The only way they were connected was through a diagonal connection. Then, after you put the request for belts (in your inventory GUI), the tutorial crashes with the error: Error while running event level::on_gui_click (ID 1) ...ing/Factorio/temp/currently-playing-tutorial/control.lua:437: attempt to index field 'robot_tag' (a nil value). Afterwards, the tutorial exited.

I retried the tutorial, this time not putting the 2nd roboport at the very edge of possible connection, and the tutorial continued fine. So, I'm thinking the problem has something to do with this edge case...

I haven't tried yet if this error occurs outside the tutorial. I also saw that there were a bunch of bug fixes for [0.16.28], some mentioning roboports, so I may upgrade my version to see if the problem still persists.

Just tried it on 0.16.28. Got the same problem.

A bit more information (that I remembered as I was recreating the issue): I put the provider box in the very lower left corner of the 1st roboport so the robot is forced to cross over at the very diagonal to get the items.
