When trying to load one of my last 9 game saves or my 3 auto saves, the game crashes. I can load older saves, I can start and play a new game, and make new saves that will load. I expect the game to load properly. One of the saves loaded yesterday morning and I played during the day yesterday on my Mac at work before work and at lunch, made a few game saves, saved, quit, and went home. At home, I loaded that game save and played most of the evening. I saved and went to bed. This afternoon, once again on my Mac, I attempted to play. The first thing that happened was that I got the update to 16.16. Then I got the message from Steam that there were newer files on the server than on the Mac which makes sense because the last place I played was at home last night so I told it to download them to my Mac. I then attempted to load my last game save and Factorio crashed. I also sync my game saves via Dropbox because sometimes the message from Steam is incorrect. After the crash I assumed the problem was with the new version so I went back to 16.15 but that didn't fix it. I went home and my PC upgraded to 16.16 and I got the same error. I have tried the 16.15 zip version on my PC also and it crashes with the "bad" saves. I think that Steam corrupted the save files but they do unzip fine and I can see the files in them fine.

I have attached the required files for debugging. I would like the 400 file to work but if it can't be fixed, it is just about 8 hours of fun that I get to have again. This will be the first day that I have not been able to play Factorio since I got it a few months ago. I am very sad, and also very addicted to this amazing game.

Also on 16.16

before the crash the game froze my pc completely after just few minutes (if i waited long enough it would come to life again), i stresstestet my computer with other games/benchmarks/stress test to ensure the pc itself was stable

Thanks for the report. I'm looking at your save file and from what I can see there's a robot that's charging at a roboport that's not associated with any logistic network.

Have you been able to take your working save and get it into the same broken state through any steps? I'm trying to figure out how it could have happened.

Looking at it, you're both using the upgrade-planner mod which seems to be the only mod in common between both of you that *might* cause this kind of problem.

Do either of you remember using the upgrade planner at some point before the saves became broken?

@captapollonm do you still happen to have save 392 (the oldest one, that doesn't load)?

for my part, my only working save from that map is 20hours before last point (that was just a blooper for my part when i accidently overwrote another save

so both my regular saves and all three autosaves gives the same error

tried to disable upgrade planner, and also disabled all mods to no avail

i used upgradeplanner to upgrade lots of belts before the save broke, the game actually made my entire pc to freeze up, needed to powercycle, the same happened 3 more times, the fourth time the save broke (no my computer isnt unstable, verified by running multiple stresstest/benchmarks for hours after this point)

Updated to 16.17 just now, didnt help

This would have been in the resolved section if we fixed it in 0.16.17.

ahh, thanks for the info, new to this bug reporting stuff, the game has actually never crashed like this before even with 600+ hours in the game with mods

dont know if this has anything to do with this game, but i started having problems after updating bios and cpu me (meltdown update......)

This should be fixed for the next version of 0.16. The save file(s) are corrupt so you'll need to load one of the previous saves.

Actually, the saves will load in 0.16.19

when is that due? any eta? just wondering if im gonna start from the old save (pre 20 hour) or wait
