Game freeze after any popup appears

Hi guys.
I'm using Intel internal graphics for playing factorio on Linux mint. Most time I can play fine, no fps drops etc.
BUT
When any popup appears - It could be steam friend, Telegram messenger or even steam achievement - my game freezes in 99% cases and only kill -9 helps.
Video is here -

After alt+tab game feeezed, can't move or quit to menu - nothing works
Logs attached. This is not save related problem, it could happen on any save but save is provided
UPD 1: After many tests - it could happen in menu too but with less chances
UPD 2. Steam 0.15.x (currently 0.15.31)

Unfortunately there is zero info we could get from the log. Does it happen when you select lower graphics quality?

Yes. Here are my graphic settings.

POSSIBLE it appears after I have unchecked selected block but I'm not sure - didn't play without this settings so long
UPD: Right now - Can't reproduce. Nothing changes except screen resolution from 1366x768 to 1920x1680. If it repeat again - I would try to play with graphic settings
UPD2: Possilby it related to libdrm package. I've updated few days ago

Well, yes, if you can make a dump for example, we might use it.

I have the same problem on Ubuntu. Sometimes game runs for hours without problems, but sometimes it freezes after any popup appears. For example skype notification or if I just hit "alt" and command prompt appears on top.
I noticed that game freezes not when popup appears, it still runs with popup over it, but rather in the moment when it disappears. This only happens in full screen more. In windowed mode game runs fine so far I did not notice any problems but I do not like it because it seems slower than full-screen - when you run it's not so smooth and something is bothering my eyes, so I prefer full-screen mode.
Tried forcing opengl, does not help. Tried reducing sprite resolution and atlas size - did not help either. I think I tried every combination of video options already, problem still appears. The laptop is quite old though, I bought it in 2011. HP, 4G mem, Intel HD3000 graphics (I think, it shows as Intel Ironlake mobile under Ubuntu). Under windows Factorio was always running fine except that it swapped a lot at the late game and laptop was always too hot. But HDD died due to old age, and I don't have spare windows license, so I installed Ubuntu and try to play Factorio under it. Ubuntu 16.04 TLS 64bit. All updated to latest from official repository, but it does not let me install latest from Intel site.
I don't provide logs since there is nothing really in them. Sometimes it hangs and I have to end it or kill it, than there is a record in the log about shutdown. Sometimes I can't even kill it, because screen just freezes with Factorio on it and it does not react to keys or mouse (normal cursor still works). Sometimes I can even hear that factorio still running - sounds of belts and other stuff, once heard sound of research finished, but still can't do anything and nothing is changing on the screen. From what I understand Factorio still "thinks" nothing wrong happened and keeps running. Therefore no errors in the log. May be something wrong with drivers or hardware, but that's beyond my knowledge. Under windows 7 all worked without any errors.

Seems like it's not factorio related issue. I have same bug with Prison Architect. I don't have this bug with half-life 1. Possibly Linux do not like when I'm playing construction games :/

Does any/all of you use the KMS Intel driver?
Try seeing if you have a package named `xserver-xorg-video-intel` installed (that's the name on Ubuntu and Debian, I'm guessing it's something similar in other distros). If you have it installed, try removing it and restarting - this should force X.org to use the Kernel Modesetting driver rather than the standalone one. This solved very similar issues for me on Debian.

Seems like it's a solution. I played for 3 hours with runned telegram and enabled steam friends - everything fine. Or just a coincidence
Many thanks anyway!

I can confirm, removing the `xserver-xorg-video-intel` package helps
played 10 more hours, no freezes, no lags.
Many thanks, @sillyfly
