Case:
Viewing the inventory while doing a long manual mining for a resource.

Expected behaviour:
Opening the inventory (E- window) does not affect the current mining progress.

Real behaviour:
Mining progress resets when inventory window opens.

Replicable:
100%

Build:
15.6 Mac OS X

System:
Sierra

I'm not sure what you describe is actually a bug. When you change focus from the thing you're mining to something else progress is reset - that's working as intended.

When you open the GUI you loose focus on the entity because now the GUI is in the way.

That would be reasonable, but unlike, say, minecraft, you don't normally lose mining progress until you change to mining a new target. I guess opening a GUI has the same effect, in that mining progress is bound to your "Target Entity" which is set both by interacting with an entity and by mining an entity.

To note, you only lose the progress if you're holding the "mine" button and the inventory opens up in front of what is being mined. If you release the button, then open the inventory, progress isn't lost. If what you're mining isn't covered by the inventory, progress most likely won't be lost.

I think it might be something like the ore sees that the "mine" action is still "active", but since the ore isn't highlighted anymore, progress on mining it gets reset.

I'm sorry but the issue is so small, that changing it is not worth it. Especially with the optimisations that are in the code related to this.

This has been fixed. As long as you don't try to mine another entity you can do pretty much anything and your mining progress is preserved.
