I's not a bug nor a gameplay feature related but I post it here as Ideas and Suggestions was more about gameplay. feel free to move it somewhere else or destroy it.
I wouldn't mind a update entry somewhere on the menu, like UPDATE or a check before the game launch, because... I'm a ESET user ^^.

When I try to connect, you only try to connect for less than one sec, and I think, only once, but if I click on login, that's because I want to log in, like I know I have internet, and I know the game can.
ESET can take up to 10s and more than 20 connection try before asking for the firewall preference. So shaking to connection a little more may be something to try.
So I've done it by hand, and it work fine.
But we human are lazy, and other future users may appreciate something like this.

I've check the bugs section, it doesn't resolved for the upcoming release ( but I only check for nod32 & eset )
My system/ hardware settings is not relevant
And I haven't play the game yet ( like at the time of this post, for your actual now I've already begin )

Hm. I know from some applications I had programmed and which need to be extremely reliable, that giving up after the first connection is not the best idea. I suggest two things: when connection failed (after some tries) it shows a requester with the things that happened and it asks what should happen. It shows that it has tried X times and no connection and asks if it should try it again or change the config for the repeats.
And after connection it shows the current version online, and eventually, that there are also unstable versions.

As far as I know Factorio waits for five seconds before it acts as there is no connection available. In the past it was waiting for five minutes but developers changed that when I reported isue about Factorio hanging on start. You can read more in the thread below:

As you can read in my last post I tried to replicati such behavior of ESET Smart Secutrity firewall using four different newtork libraries available for Objective Pascal with no succsess.
So if you might be able to make a test application for this that would be verry helpfull.

0.10.0 has the update now buttn in the "About" screen. Moving to resolved.
