OpenGL related crash to desktop while loading saved game

Hello everyone, I've had quite a few frustrating crashes playing Factorio today. Most times I've attempted to load a saved game, I get a critical error which crashes the game out to my desktop. The error message mentions that GPU monitoring software can interfere with the game, but I am not currently running any such programs. The error message also recommends changing a boolean called "force-opengl" to "true", but I cannot find the proper config file to do so.

Displayed is a screenshot and attached is my log file. I apologize if this issue has been posted by someone else already.

Actually, --force_opengl is a command-line option
insteal of running factorio.exe, you'll want to run factorio.exe --force_opengl

If you want to change your config file, you'll find it in :

Code: Select all

%APPDATA%\Factorio\config
(just paste it in the topmost part of your explorer).

I experience the same crash when I load the attached save game.
I tried --force-opengl, this did not help.

Arg ... Turns out, I made a mistake in dectection when it crashes in Steam overlay. As a result message on the screenshot shows even on unrelated crashes.
1) It shouldn't crash
2) It should show different crash message

Hi,

I get exactly the same error.

The game crashed when I was playing, and I have been unable to load any of the autosaves since. I can start a new game.


Is there a fix?

I got this error in-game, not when loading a save. However after this crashed to desktop, all my saves from that game are corrupted and give this error when trying to load: "Deserialisation error, target with id 3913 doesn't exist"

I think it might be linked to this thread too viewtopic.php?f=7&t=20865

My save game is on the same level (New Hope level 2) and I think I may have picked up that damaged box which the above thread tells you not to do as it corrupts the save game!

I think it's less of a corrupt save as much as it's just more of a technical issue. My save games won't load but I don't think they're corrupted.
When can we expect a fix for this error? I really want to continue the campaign. Sorry if I sound impatient. :(

Hello,

I seem to have the same problem (not 100% sure), but I am 100% sure it has nothing to do with the chest

the dropbox link below leads two saves with their corresponding logfiles after the crash.
What's interesting is that one of them loads, but it crashes the game as soon as the autosave triggers after the default 2 minutes.
the second one simply won't load without a crash.
I know for certain I did not pick up the box that supposedly causes these problems in the save that loads, and I don't think (like 80% sure) that I picked it up in the one that crashes on load.
But I repaired it at some point, I am not sure how long ago that was tough.

The main reason I think my problems are related to the others is that the stacktrace in the logs that were postet previously seem to share some similarities with mine

Hi, the 2nd level in New Hope campaign was all in all corrupted and produced corrupted saves (or could crash during saving). This is fixed now, but you need to restart the level. Corrupted saves cannot be repaired.
