For some reason, inserts don't seem to grab from traincar sections that are over rail junctions.

Can you be more specific? On junctions, the straight rail is always considered as primary, if the train is on junction on curved rail, it won't work.

Here is a picture of the train I noticed this on - the train car on the left has six grabbers, and the middle two do not function.

Thx for the report, it is fixed for 0.12.5.
