What did you do?
Walking next to multiple miners.
What happened?
I can hear distorted sound like its getting clipped.
What did you expect to happen instead?
Not hear distorted sound.
Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
Always.

Every time I walk next to miners, I hear some sort of a distorted sound.
I have tested this on my linux and windows install and additionally on my steam deck. Tested with my headphones and regular steam deck speakers - so it's not my speakers fault nor a platform fault.

Its a bit hard to hear on the recording but its loud enough for me to be annoying - but still not a game braking bug.

This might be similar to what I've seen in 1.1.110. Whenever you use several spidertrons at once with a bunch of missiles via remote control and they all fire missiles, or watch a whole bunch of rockets launch simultaneously via the map. There's a very intense crackling/distorted sound that happens. I'm on Mac.

This was described as fixed in 2.x but maybe it's not completely fixed. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=112948

No, this is a different issue. I know what the problem is and how to fix it.

Thanks for the report.
The crackling came from the interpolation method used for resampling the audio data when playback speed is changed, this happens for example when moving/panning the camera around entities which get a doppler effect applied on their sounds. The mining drill was the most noticeable one.
The issue is now fixed for the next release by using a linear interpolation instead of point interpolation.
