Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Just add gas liquification recipe which would make light oil from PG. I am too burnt out to make complex posts now as I see V is not in the mood to change his opinion. I want to point out several things. * Proposed changes do not address the main issue of handling multiple outputs. They do postpone ...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

I did already mention in my post before https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=73443&p=444061#p444061 about moving basic sulfur recipe to heavier oils. Adding a petroleum gas sulfur recipe to AOP will keep the total complexity in check. Extending further idea of IronCartographer wi...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

I do really like the idea from IronCartographer. It really does smooth out oil learning experience. It also does give AOP nice progression purpose. It also completely solves the problem of the lack of lube in some situations. However sadly this still does push back construction bots due to those ind...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

I see one small but effective UI addition that would help. In machine UI window there is a progress bar where you can see that machine is working. Change the background of this progress bar to red (and possibly make it gradually blink) and add a text message on top of it saying “output storage full”...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

Red chips were, in my opinion, the worst offender. They were slow and required 3 of them for the recipe, and also required knowledgeable oil handling to make the plastic components. I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned this besides one other person (Avezo). Are we alone in this? Look at my previ...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

I will throw in another idea in addition to my previous post with more in depth analysis. We can go from chemical science packs here as the source of difficulty spike. So let us make it further. We can encourage player to utilize all 3 liquids. This was tried by adding solid fuel to it but I would g...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

I will try and make one more try and keep it calm. Sadly I am posting from a mobile so sorry about mistakes and formatting. You said we have to solve all problems in a valid solution so let us identify these exact problems and go from there. 1. New production chain, new recipes and machines. I see n...

This was the post you should not have made man This is the point I have lost faith in you. Good luck getting new players into your game. But never look back. This is very sad to read, mainly because I legit don't understand why would you say that. If that's just because I dare to disagree and try t...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

Yet again thinking over the topic. The main issue here is not that people can’t solve the problem. The issue is people can’t SEE the problem. Remember those topic names - “refinery stopped working” etc. So the task here is not to simplify oil processing but to help player identify the issue. When I ...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

This topic feels definitely like a combat reconnaissance by Kovarex in his favorite style of throwing shit on the fan and see the reaction. Like belts vs bots and alike :)

I see what you are doing you nasty guy ;)

But it definitely works as you get a great brainstorm on the topic really fast.

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

As opposed to my flare stack idea here is another one You can introduce basic cracking recipes alongside basic refining. These basic cracking recipes would not require water and would be less efficient compared to advanced processing Advanced oil processing would require water input for both refiner...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

Basic oil processing needed a change but I am not sure this one was best. I am sure that adding a flare stack with a proper description would be much better. Flare stack besides burning excess heavy and light oil would also add extra pollution which would actually help players drive towards advanced...

from the description it sounds like the clear destination is then set to the inventory, and likely reserves a slot for it. How does it behave with a full inventory though? it falls on the floor Fake news! It does not reserve an inventory slot, so when you do the described action with a full invento...

Re: Beacon on/off via circuit network

I concur : if all entities could be switched on and off by circuit network, it would render the power switch obsolete. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it's a choice the devs have to make : - Power switch as unified means to turn stuff on and off ? - Power switch is removed and replaced by ...

Re: Multi item belts splitters Splitting and pass through

This is performed by setting a filter on a splitter and then adding another splitter to split filtered items.
This change will not add anything new to the game and can be accomplished by existing tools.
Not gonna be even considered.
