Updating to 17.58 did resolve this. Apologies for the confusion.

Bugfixes

Fixed that the game crashed when passing train signal while driving train in manual mode.

Oh weird. I had updated the game before playing and just assumed it updated to 17.56, but apparently it didn't. Okay, will update again and see if the issue is still there.

Okay, I read the dialog error message more carefully this time. Here is the log file directly after a crash. Very repeatable, but obviously it might be my computer and not the game per se. Tried uploading the save here but it seemed to fail -- it is a fairly large save 75Mb.

Err, played after repeating the bug several times. I should be able to reproduce it, where would I find log? Is the file name just a date/time stamp?

Edit: Ahh, it is the "factorio-current.log" -- so I should crash it and then post that file?

[0.17.56] Crash upon attempting to switch from automatic to manual while riding train.

Just updated from 17.17 to 17.56 -- I am getting a crash when, I am traveling by train, I open menu for the train I'm on, I attempt to switch from automatic to manual, BLAM. It blows up. Just me? Could provide my save if you are interested. Not using any train mods...

I've been away from the game for a bit. Just jumped back in and updated from 17.17 to 17.56 -- I am getting a crash when, I am traveling by train, I open menu for the train I'm on, I attempt to switch from automatic to manual, BLAM. It blows up. Just me?

What can happen is train A selects a spot prior to train B taking the spot, then train A arrives before a recalculation of its path has been forced. Unless something changed recently, you can open the blueprint book and simply click and drag blueprints into whatever order you want. But if you add a blueprint to a book that sits in your library... it auto-orders in alphanumeric order. Hmm, I had not noticed this behavior. But I'll take your word ...

Uh, is it just me or does this seem like the core of the problem must be a bug in one of those mods? The list of raw materials you use as an example makes no sense.

Yeah, I have never completely understood this behavior either. In most cases it seems to be a situation of you need to be able to place a signal on both sides of the track, but there are exceptions.

Use the "rough" spot toward the right side of the bar to drag a station in a train's schedule. Don't think the train list itself can be modified. It is alphabetical.
