Re: Niggles and nitpicking - player preferences

I almost never use beacons or modules. I also hate anything with more than a couple combinators.

My mantra is "spaghetti locally, train globally." If it gets the job done spaghetti doesn't bother me at all.

They already do. They just don't fill them up all the way.

The max is like 5 or something.

Belts faster than 45 item/s suck. You need uber inserters to cope, it's just an arms race of rainbow-tinted entities cluttering up the crafting menu.
I personally love the idea of a top-tier belt that you just can't use inserters on, and have to branch off to slower belts to do that.

megabasers is this an intended way to play Factorio? I don't believe there is (or should) be an "intended" way to play Factorio, except in that people intend to play it their own way and it's good that the game allows for so many styles. Also related to "no brainer" upgrades bei...

Re: Friday Facts #314 - 0.17 stable

I also have a sneaking suspicion that the kinds of players who would assume the "real game" doesn't start until you get bots are also the kinds of players who play with biters disabled; which virtually removes 100% of the challenge from the game, it just becomes a waiting game at that poi...

Re: Version 0.17.60

AOP now feels like a straight no-brain upgrade to BOP. No brain is always bad. I personally feel the opposite. AOP always used to feel like a no-brainer before and now it does not. It's required now to get the things that need oil, sure, but it's not literally the first thing I put in the research ...

So now that the thought of "optimizing for convenience and streamlining the experience doesn't make a game better" sunk in can we revert basic oil processing to output heavy, light and petroleum? ;) They didn't say that to imply this. They said it to justify waiting so long for constructi...

Re: Creating a trigger when material ceases running on a belt

This approach has worked very well, but with one drawback: the decider combinator has to be set to whatever ore type is being mined. If it's not the ore in the blueprint then I need to wait for the bots to place the combinator before I can change it. That gets tiresome after a while. You could plac...

I expect SEO favors mentioning as many popular games as possible in the same article.

So it's a compliment that they mentioned you. You're important enough to plug into SEO holes.

I love the way these look but am sad I'll never see them.

Ghosts are WAY too important to gameplay. It's like the centers of each building image. Put as much time into them as you need but I'll be covering them up with gameplay information.

At sub-megabase scale, it's better to put eff1 modules in things than to build solar panels.
That's not an either-or thing. You can both power things with solar AND put modules in them.

Re: Landfill needs a change. 20 Stone for 1 tile? Ridiculous!

Isn't the whole point of this forum to talk about balance? Yes I understand -I- Can mod the game but if I can show that the end values are crazy high the devs can understand that their values can be tweaked and it will be better in the end. Absolutely. You and I disagree on what the correct number ...

Re: Landfill needs a change. 20 Stone for 1 tile? Ridiculous!

Our intent is to use as little mods as possible and as vanilla as possible. But you want something that's different than vanilla. You disagree with the developers on this one thing. That's pretty much the purpose of modding, to have things your way instead of the way the developers wanted. You eith...

Please, explain why nuclear or coal is not OP. Note: I don't think solar is "OP." I also don't think bots are "OP." But Nuclear is not OP because you can't place them and then never, ever think about them again. At some point you will need to find a new source of fuel. Coal is t...

Is there a reason no one is suggesting that instead of trying to create the Trans-Alaska Pipeline you instead load that oil onto a train?
