Re: We support Peace

The way I see it, both sides can choose to end the war. Both sides have the choice to resolve the situation peacefully. Russia obviously has the option to retreat. Or Ukraine can agree to fulfill Russia's demands. The following is my take on it, as a neutral observer. by stating that Ukraine can en...

Could you perhaps see at least any parallels with the current situation?
Absolutely not. Should I?

Re: We support Ukraine

Just a note here that I edited my original reply. Did you see what lies Russian state media outlets are writing about the war? More places writing about it may tell more Russians what's actually going on. I saw many things and have mostly made up my mind on what to believe. You suddenly telling me t...

I support ceasefire

Suddenly politics? Hey I get that the Uncle Bob friday facts was not a political post but considering the way that was settled this crosses a few lines for me. Namely why are you suddenly publicly taking a political stance after distancing yourself from politics. 2023. 10. 12. Edit Please do not tai...

Re: Friday Facts #367 - Expansion news

That "Cthulhu's Brain" thing on the concept art feels super fresh. I hope the rest of the expansion will share that feeling. I don't want to be in the group of people who play it before it's finished this time though.

Re: mute the game while alt-tabbed

I don't think this makes sense I think that the abrupt cutting off of the sound is jarring: this is why I play the factorio music (available on steam or in that youtube video) in the background while playing the game rather than just unmuting the in game music. Would it also not make sense to tie t...

Re: Friday Facts #353 - Trailer update

I do not like the idea of giving a history lesson in the launch trailer. It is going to be the first thing people see about Factorio. It might not make a good impression and could be confusing. I see most other release trailers celebrate the final product instead of the journey. At the point of rele...

What about also unifying it all somehow with the forum and wiki as well?

Or some method to link our forum & wiki accounts to our factorio account.

Re: Friday Facts #351 - Beacon re-redesign & Simplified fluid mixing

Somehow, as a player, I would still prefer the fluid mixing prevention. I don't know why. Also, you don't have to add visible module slots to all entities. But you could instead make graphics of modules being attached to them some form or another. There are no slots expecting modules. They are simpl...

Oh come on. I sometimes use autosaves to save something temporarily without any intent to keep it for longer. What about an option in the pause menu that performs an autosave immediately?

Re: Friday Facts #346 - He who does nothing, breaks nothing

The next obvious step after footprints are vehicle tracks. I'm not sure how to go about such a thing. Maybe you could make each of the 4 wheels of the car leave behind a circular 'patch' of darkened ground each tick, which when combined creates visually connected tracks. For tanks, treat the chainwh...

Re: Friday Facts #341 - Audio, Artillery, Attenuation

The sound of the artillery gives the impression of something falling on the ground after each shot but I can't see anything. Is that the sound of some internal reloading procedure of the cannon, or are you going to add a particle for that?

What would it look like if the electricity beams occasionally arced to the entities that are receiving the bonus?
Adding to this, what if they are the thing that connects the beacons? For example, make the tip of beacons that are close enough have their own set of electricity beams between them.

I wish this was the case. I saw my fair share of 2D games that don't even justify being on a game engine and yet the computer fans go loud when I start them.
