Re: Adding nuclear reactors isn't getting me the power I need
Nuclear reactors buffer up an enormous amount of energy and you can temporarily pull out more power than the system is really capable of. If your reactor is pulling more than its production then you will find the reactor gradually losing temperature until its energy output reaches a steady state. T...

Re: Adding nuclear reactors isn't getting me the power I need
I built a 2 reactor powerplant with sixteen heat exchangers feeding into storage tanks. 2 storage tanks per heat exchanger. Then I had two steam turbines for each heat exchanger for a total of 32. I had water coming in from the left in 2 places and on the right in 2 places and I didn't get any steam...

Re: Adding nuclear reactors isn't getting me the power I need
I have two other reactors. I think I'm going to start from scratch and build as you advised with water pipes leading to every fifth heat exchanger or so and multiple steam pipes going from turbines to storage. The game shows pipes full, but they don't show backup or excessive pressure. I had assumed...

Re: Adding nuclear reactors isn't getting me the power I need
Progress! Now I have 2 reactors instead of 4, 16 heat exchangers instead of about 10 and I'm getting more power. Things are in the green again. The reactors turn themselves off and I don't see my storage tanks filling with steam but there is some steam. So I've cut way back on my nuclear fuel consum...

Adding nuclear reactors isn't getting me the power I need
I have a lot of coal fired steam engines for power, but I started adding nuclear power about 50 hours ago. For awhile I was getting about 320mw electricity which is no longer enough. I added a reactor and am now getting 300 and it isn't enough. I used to get steam coming out of all my turbines. Not ...

Re: Where is this feature? How do I get it?
I'm not talking about red lines on the track. I'm talking about red arrows on the track ahead of the train when you put the cursor on the train. I just now went on automatic with red arrows ahead of me the whole way a couple of factorio miles. It does not mean the train is blocked. Sometimes the arr...

Re: Where is this feature? How do I get it?
I'm getting it again, at least sometimes. Does anyone know what it means when the arrows ahead are yellow or red? They extend forward a long way, much further than I thought at first, but I don't know if they have any use. Also, I'd like to apologize for anyone that joined my game yesterday for the ...

why is my train stopped at a green chain signal?
Doesn't a green light mean go? This is the simplest thing in traffic. If the light is green, that means the vehicle looking at the green light can go. If the light is red, the vehicle should stop, but in factorio the train looking at a green light stops. What is the point of having red and green lig...

Re: Is my forum login the same as multiplayer login?
I don't think they understand the systems that they themselves create because the page I'm at to reset my password just says Factorio . It does not say forum or multiplayer so I assume it means for all factorio stuff. I guess I reset my forum password. Not what I wanted to do. That worked fine. Prob...

Is my forum login the same as multiplayer login?
because it won't let me create a multiplayer game. I used to set up multiplayer games, but not anymore. They want me to enter my email address and then they tell me that the @ symbol is not allowed. How do you enter your email address without using @? It seems like there should be a separate place t...

Re: Need some blueprints of simple working train runs
Thanks for your help. I'll be trying some of these blueprints. I'm going to try taking this thing online to see if anyone knows how to put signals on this track. If you want to help the game will be labeled "need help with train crossing signals". The train crossing is labeled with a train...

Where is this feature? How do I get it?
For awhile arrows would appear on train tracks when I moused over the locomotive. I can't get it to do that anymore. The arrows used to be about the length of a five car train. I'm using .16 version of the game.

Need some blueprints of simple working train runs
This is all for .16 I'm looking for some blueprints to download. I need some simple train layouts with signals that work. The trains run and don't get the "no path" or crash into each other. All I've been finding is very complicated, beautiful intersections. Has anyone got a link? I need a...

Re: Yellow lines on the train tracks
I am touched, seriously touched to know the community cares. The internet can be a cold, hostile place so its nice.... I couldn't finish the tutorials because the earlier ones didn't teach me what I need to know. Redoing them is tedious but a little helpful. First sign of progress. I built what I th...

Re: Yellow lines on the train tracks
That's the first thing I did. It taught me nothing. Perhaps more importantly, it doesn't show me where I'm going wrong or how I should do it. It just maddeningly doesn't do what I want. I tried making some small track layouts with stops and intersections, but it doesn't work for me. There are a numb...

Yellow lines on the train tracks
I'm trying to build some train systems. As usual I have problems with signals. I noticed yellow and red lines form on the tracks when I put down signals. I assumed the lines told me that my train would stop in a red line area and proceed with caution in a yellow area, but this is not correct. Trains...

I need to know what goes on this belt right away
Hold down alt while cursor is on a belt or blueprint belt and get a little movie clip of the items that most recently had flowed down that belt. I've been downloading blueprints and trying to use them and its harder than I thought. One problem is not knowing what goes on the belt and on which side. ...

Problems with scenarios
I've been doing scenarios and I don't like the repetitive nature of the failings. I'm stuck on the fast transport belts. The timer running out and that hammer coming down noise is a bit too out of the blue. It tells me I failed and I figured out that I need to research automation 2 and make lots of ...

Second uranium deposit has very few U235
The first deposit I mined seemed to have the expected proportion of dull green to neon green uranium but then I went south just a little bit and found another big patch of uranium. So far this one has produced about 4 chunks of the bright green stuff after mining maybe 10,000. I have about 18 centri...
