I want this so much!
Boats and stuff have been suggested multiple times before, but the concept of making a world with islands (large or small) is what makes them that much more exciting. Imagine large cargo ships and oil tankers, off-shore oil rigs… kyaaa >.<

What would be required is ships! Ship pathing is straight forward, open water... just make a beeline for the port. Ports could work similar to train stops. Freight ships carry freight. Smaller ships carry the player. Sea based combat? ...

Ship pathing is straight forward, open water... just make a beeline for the port.
Ports could work similar to train stops.
Freight ships carry freight. Smaller ships carry the player.
Sea based combat? Enemy fish? Deep sea worms? Lots of possibilities

... make trains or belt obsolete because you still need those to transport resources from afar to your door. Let me know what you guys think about ships and continents.

... such a beautiful map. But the problem is that you can not escape from your island. :| Maybe it is possible later to have a harbour where robotic ships go to? And yeah. What would be greater than a sailing ship? I like them much. But without wind and wind direction it will not be that awesome ...
