Question on Modular Armor

http://i.imgur.com/Zr0RIs7.png I was wondering if the laser thing "stacks" i.e. having more = more damage? (more attacks per second? or more "damage"?) also, is it ever necessary to have more than one "portable fusion reactor"? Also... night vision.. the green stops me...

Random thought... Given default difficuly settings for everything (ore size, etc) in freeplay. Do you think it possible to complete the game only crafting items "by hand"? I.e. no assembling machines (things like furances and power generation devices will still be required.) I know it will...
