Any chance that we will be surprised tomorrow by the release of 0.9?

The other way to solve this would be going the other way around. Having primitive Coal assemblers and Coal labs would allow to setup some automation even before electricity, so even the electricity would have to be researched.
I like your idea because in the current setup coal powered equipment ...

Hello,
We could go the other way around, we could build expensive facilities on the planed to accomodate incoming ships. Or the player could send resource packs on the orbit for the waiting ships.
Maybe extend the game by allowing ships to land and to build some sort of "housing accommodation ...

I like your Version. Even though I tend to dont merge the copper and iron belts and just split them, resulting in an layout like this:

Ammunition as a resource sink
In the current form of the game you mainly need your resources besides from building for the creation of science packs e.g. research and your laser turrets handling the defense (only needing power).
I think there should be a bigger need to actually produce ammunition to defend against the biters ...
