ensure you are both running the same version - its perhaps a long shot but worth looking into as a recent patch hides all non-compatible games from the game browser.

(also, you can connect directly to his ip without using the browser if you want to)

I've upped the server specs ever so slightly, from 1c2gb to 2c4gb - enought to let me run the dev/testserver (which never has any players but me on it when I need to test things) I've also come further with my systemd-approach meaning I am now running with my usual crash detection which kinda broke ...
