Re: Friday Facts #167 - Reactors Operational
Heat transfer from the nuclear reactor is weird , not at all the simple, straightforward implementation I would expect. I love it! Glad to see the boiler size got reworked. Figuring out build patterns will require more thought.. perhaps running the belt between boiler pairs in the bank in a perpendi...

Some ideas: Shifting wind direction, so you mostly get attacks from one direction for a while and players can focus there Biter events. Rare attacks in an unusual way, be it a larger swarm, some sort of tunneler, etc Boss biters. Lording over a cluster of rich resources, the boss doesn't spread or r...

Re: Friday Facts #164 - Nuclear power
Turns out my intended boiler chaining doesn't work. You can see it on the left here. I need to replace some inserters with power poles but that means I can fuel boilers there, so I replace them with pipes.. which bridge the water side to the steam side. On the right is the only working chained setup...

Re: Friday Facts #164 - Nuclear power
Heh, I just realized most bases wouldn't even see a meltdown when it happens. Power production would continue until the moment it overloads and explodes, which would destroy the buildings and create blueprints, which would immediately cause bots to replace them with fresh new buildings. The downtime...

Replace toolbar with bookmarks
Idea is to replace the toolbar with a set of bookmarks, assigned by middle click, middle clicking with an item in hand, or by dragging from the crafting menu. Advantages Displays total count of items in inventory, not just whatever partial stack is on the toolbar Works even if bots steal your last i...

Re: Friday Facts #164 - Nuclear power
I've asked for the water/steam change so I can't complain that it breaks many (but not all) boiler chaining layouts. :D Circuit control on reactors is iffy. Eking out a little more efficiency? Sure. Too much though and it feels necessary to run "right". The reactors exploding trope is.. eh...

Re: Friday Facts #162 - Theme Art Again
I would like to see the Alien Artifacts come to use in some consumable items like powerful grenades or smth: --> kill Aliens --> get Alien Artifacts --> build more powerful ammo/grenades I like this idea. Make the alien artefacts really rare and enable some ridiculously overpowered weapons by using...

Sluggish map for Rseding91
As the map progressed performance got increasingly slow. It would seem fine one moment (high FPS and movement worked fine), then suddenly it would drop to 5 FPS and the buffers would start climbing. When asked somebody would would say they just put down some solar (5 or 10 templates at once), or may...

Either way the behaviour should be consistent. Attack rails all the time or none of the time.Loewchen wrote:Imo this is not a bug, but looking at previous classifications, it seems there is no consensus among devs either.

Re: Biter attacking rails
It's extremely rare for them to attack rails like this. They target turrets, pollution sources, that sort of thing. Only after that's done do they go on a rampage through things like rails, so as long as your turrets hold out your rails will always be safe. They'll also attack things that block move...

Biter attacking rails
No visible reason why this particular rail is getting attacked. Just stand still for almost 4 minutes and rail near Copper Ore 1 gets eaten.

I've wanted this for a while. If it includes construction/deconstruction times then it's no more powerful than manually placing, just much less fiddly. Mark a set of trees for deconstruction and slowly walk through them, no having to line up each individual tree.

I'd be really bothered by item merging. It takes 5 repair packs to fully repair a laser turret, that's 22.5 resources. Rebuilding that laser turret costs 198 resources, including oil which is usually more valuable. It would feel like you're penalizing me for picking up a damaged item, which isn't th...

Another thought on this, as I'm sure not everyone agrees with me (though they are WRONG :D ) is to have the science factor be governed by a game setting. Allowing masochist to make the game take more science if they desire it. Marathon mod. I don't like the marathon mod. I don't want everything in ...

Re: Friday facts #158 - The end of the 32 bit era
You see, it is impossible to make perfect circle without adding new 90°-turn rail (that will be connectable only on ends, BTW) Fortunately since we no longer have curved tracks in inventory it is at lease plausible to add a single 90° curve entity. And the S-bend and other shapes we want. No idea i...

I have since discovered that this bug only happens when flowing south or east. Boilers flowing north and west nearly immediately heat water to 100°C while boilers flowing south and east only reach approximately 95°C. Please reopen the report and update the title. Here's a screenshot showing behaviou...

decorations: as long as they have no actual impact on the gameplay (or do they?), why store them at all? they can be regenerated every time a player can see the chunk, or when (or preferably after) the game loads a map. i can see only a limited number of special cases, eg, when the player changes l...

It looks awesome, although it makes me instantly want the option to fill each third of the tanker with different fluid, which obviously it can't do. I suspect that's exactly what they're doing. 3 tanks so you need 3 pumps to fill them. Maybe ship all 3 types from an oil refinery in one tank. Would ...
