Re: Why does the train crash?

You could argue that having an exception to how signals obviously operate is more counter intuitive - a train blowing by a red signal. If a player is trying to learn how signals work, the game would be sending mixed messages. The "fiddly changes" you speak of for a roundabout is just addi...

Re: [MOD] Deadlock's Stacking Beltboxes & Compact Loaders

If you think about it, that's impossible for a 1x1 machine, given that the unstacking recipes are the same speed as the stacking recipes. The beltbox would need five free adjoining tiles. If the beltboxes could unstack a compressed belt of stacked items, they would never be able to unload it all qu...

Re: Run from ramdisk

okay, sure. it is all relative. to someone with an AMD R9 3990x, requiring 8 cores is "not a lot". by "awful lot", I really meant, "an awful lot more than nothing". and you can read between the lines or you can say it's 100% false, in which case, reading comprehension i...

Re: Run from ramdisk

2 GiB (or 250MByte) in two hours is not really that much, if you have autosave every 5 minutes. Thus I think both statements can be reconciled easily. some servers run from SD card mirror built into the motherboard, if you were to write this much data to them constantly over the course of a year, i...

Other than that, we don't touch the disk for writing runtime. So, your statement is false :P

uhm, how does that mean my statement is false? you just described where all the IO is coming from.

Re: requesting a clever way to store steam

Since fluid in tanks equalizes across connected tanks, add two tanks on the end of your steam pipes, then a pump to a third tank. Use a red or green wire connected from the second tank to the pump and set the pump to operate when steam is greater than “x”. Where x is whatever value you decide indic...

Re: [0.17.X] Not a bug but something that can be prevented.

there is a building to change the spawn point but it's not given a graphic or recipe and maaaaybe they want to do this before 1.0? i sure hope so. running away from the base in the beginning shouldn't be seen as the alt way of playing with rolling the dice on the map generator being the default. it ...

Re: [0.17.79] Gate sensor output does not match actual gate state for trains.

in .18.x i've made a rail grid world using johnnynof's gated city block blueprint and the performance is superb thanks to boskid's improvements to the rail pathfinder and abandoning A*. however, the gates themselves, specifically relating to trains, have some remaining CPU issues that mean I have to...

if deleting mod-settings.dat doesn't help then the only thing that worked for me was to download the actual seablock pack zip from this thread and extract it manually.

Re: Change station in train schedule while keeping the conditions

this could be easily solved by having a descriptive language available in-game for anyone who wants to edit their train schedules a bit more precisely, or, to import portions of another schedule, and so on. you could have a JSON or YAML (but JSON is easier, imo - i know, this is a religious war) doc...

Re: [0.18] Sea Block Pack 0.4.1

remove your mod-settings.dat and try again, there's some incompatibilities in the way you had bob's setup, i think it involves nuclear power rework being selected. it may or may not be required, try whatever state is opposite the one it's currently in.

Re: Run from ramdisk

factorio writes to disk an awful lot during runtime, you can see this by monitoring something like `atop` on Linux, the WRDSK column shows 2.3GiB of writes after about 2 hours of uptime. i don't see why to ask why they want to run on ramdisk, instead, you can help by answering the actual question or...

I also get disconnected anytime I search anything in multiplayer. Curious that some people have no problems, but your problems are so serious. ...
