Re: Pirating Factorio
@malokin: With respect to you person an in a very calm mode a simple example and a question: If some good friend gives you photos from his holidays, and says "Look, isn't it nice?" then - with your logic - you put the photos into the internet. And when he asks you, what that should be you...

Re: Pirating Factorio
Hm. I think it's an idea to try it. As tonberrytoby said: It is immune…. But trying means not posing with it, because nobody knows, what could happen then. Nobody know what the future will hold sure, but EVERYONE knows what the past was like. The devil you dont know might actually be better that th...

Re: Pirating Factorio
You guys should note that Factorio is effectively immune to piracy. Because it is literally impossible to pirate the full version of Factorio at the current time. It doesn't exist. And once it is done, it will already have been paid for by the preorders. Also note that historically, before the intr...

Re: Pirating Factorio
Maybe you're right, that pirating it will bring more users. But maybe not. You can't be sure! You can't. And that is in my opinion the point: You can't be sure, that your doing is right. i am right about this. Indie bands dont get the luxury of selling their music. They have to let it be free, ESPE...

Re: Pirating Factorio
It's not like i said any REAL goods would be free, just music games movies, all of the world's DIGITAL works. YOUR JUST SO RIGHT SILVER! bearshare and kazaa killed all of music didnt they? Free porn killed the multi billion dollar porn industry didnt it? Thepiratebay killed the entrie movie industr...

Re: Pirating Factorio
 It isnt the pay or the return on the investment, It is the fact that the only TOOL a programmer has to buy to start programming is a copy of notepad and a compiler. There are no other barriers to entry. You can act like time is the most precious resource since toungsten, but I tend to think th...

Re: Pirating Factorio
No, I'm saying it is important to have the discussion because this is all very new and we haven't really established the standards yet. Simply saying you are right and everyone else is wrong isn't how the world operates. I'm actually quite interested in your point of view, but sadly you haven't rea...

Re: Pirating Factorio
No, no. You made perfectly clear that if you buy a game, you can do whatever you want with it, so your friend is OK. I am asking if you would consider wrong to upload a game you obtained not via buying, but from someone other that bought it first. As long as that person bought it, I wouldnt mind up...

Re: Pirating Factorio
They cost time, and time is one of the most expansive goods. How so? Digital products require the least amount of manhours of any product produced in any industry anywhere period. You can't get a small group to release a product into the american or other major marketplaces without having many diff...

Re: Pirating Factorio
Now by your logic malokin, you've paid your money. You should be able to pick that machine up... and take it home. And dismantle it and tinker with it and play it with friends... share it. Profit from it or whatever other nifty little ideas you think are valid with your "freedom". But no....

Re: Pirating Factorio
requires ongoing discussion to keep people aware of the fact that this is not simply "allowed" and that it is an issue. Maybe not an issue that requires snuffing, but an issue nonetheless. Lol, so your saying it's important to have this discussion because piracy is wrong and you need to r...

Re: Pirating Factorio
Yes, but you say this things about information and games, which doesn't change anything about my original statement. Sure, as long as you understand I dont ever want to replace sales with pure piracy. I just think piracy will change what the word sales means, and that is a really great thing. Many ...

Re: Bot pickup minus the chicken.
Maybe they could make that alternative view thing or whatever turns the icon view on, make the bots just an outline or i do like the idea of them disappearing completely.
edit: I'd also like it if bots evenly distributed themselves throughout the network when idle.

Re: Pirating Factorio
Malokin, your "world view" doesn't work. There are not enough people in the ("rich") world who think: "I like the game and I donate some money." Well, excuse me if i disagree, and think your "world view" is naive and doesnt work. But you do misunderstand me, ...

Re: Pirating Factorio
Shit, now I want to take a stab at me. people who create content will always side with the money, and not side with the public playing with and modifying the game unabashed and unrestricted the way I do. That was far too cynical of me, someday, developers wont just care about the money, someday in t...

Re: Pirating Factorio
So, wanting to spread the game to the world makes me self-centered? I beleieve in the rights of the individual above the rights of the state, not just for me but for ALL individuals. You don't think devs wanting to get their cash for their own hard work isn't self-centered? I don't blame people for ...

Re: Pirating Factorio

Re: Pirating Factorio
Yes, I have never uploaded a torrent of a game I didn't buy first. (how would i have a copy to upload then unless I did something illegal like hack in and actually steal the game, THAT i consider stealing, and immoral) but by toys i was of course referring to "games" and other works of art...
