Re: Friday Facts #125 - Achievements
Out of curiosity, what is the exact significance of the number 111 in the "without crafting more than X items" achievement? It seems like an odd number to choose.

Re: Friday Facts #128 - Back down to earth
TLDR: Yes to loaders. Please. But just for containers , as I believe was the original intent, not for assemblers and such. Once you have sufficient production to be able to saturate a belt, a balancer is trivial. It has always been trivial. Just look it up online and copy the design – no challenge a...

Re: [MOD 0.12] Blueprint String
Chrome is blocking the download of the zip attachment, with no option to override. "blueprint-string_2.1.0....zip may harm your browsing experience, so Chrome has blocked it" with a "Dismiss" button and a "Learn More" option that just gives a web page "explaining&q...

Thank you! I'm really looking forward to the next release, then (and to a properly working mouse, of course).

Re: [0.12.1] Personal roboport doesn't work as expected
Not sure if this has been mentioned and I missed it, but I do think that personal robots should never take the last item out of your mouse cursor. If you have more than one and you're ghost-printing, fine, they can take some of them, but that last one should be off-limits. This rule clearly would NO...

0.12.3 - Zooming without scroll wheel is extremely difficult
(Context: My old mouse's failing scroll wheel has finally become so bad that 95% of the time it either doesn't register or scrolls the wrong direction entirely. Needless to say, this makes it pretty much useless. I'll be buying a new one, of course, but getting one you've never tried delivered doesn...

Re: Belt Designs for ColonelWill
Looking through that album Tallinu, is there a reason you use 6 inserters per wagon side instead of 7? Thats the old design of a balanced loading station :) It's also usable before you get substations. And the difference between 6 and 7 is trivial, since you can't adjust a train's stopping time fin...

Re: Let's Ruin Threads by Arguing about Logistics Chests
... I'm confused. So after we both said "Hey he's right, this is on the edge of getting off-topic from his request for advice on his base's logistics stuff , and we're not going to take it any further in this thread", that is when you suddenly go ballistic without warning? As others mentio...

Well by the time I was done replying to your previous post. I saw this... Not sure what to do I sent you my reply in a private message. Mostly clarifying how I use my setup and how I handled some of the stuff you pointed out. While I did receive your first post somewhat the wrong way, It was not th...

Re: My first drone-automated base
{snip} I tried to trim this down and make it stop sounding like an argument but it's just not working. Despite all the things that Zhab and I clearly agree on, there's just too much that's either a matter of preference, or correct under certain conditions but incorrect under other conditions, perhap...

Re: Belt Designs for ColonelWill
I still like my version better - uses two fewer underground belts, looks a little less confusing, and can be built slightly narrower if desired.

... that take into consideration everything connected to the logistic network (by roboports). This means all provider chests, all requester chest and even storage chest. With that kind of setup you should not even need storage chests because you never produce more than you need or at least not more...

this is from wiki (hope nothign changed in .12): Longest recipie in chain is battery at 5 seconds, so lets balance the production for 5 seconds: The fastest recipie is the acid plant, so in 5 seconds, 1 acid chemplant will make 25 acid and use up 25 sulfur in 5 seconds, 12.5 battery chepmplants wil...

Re: Combinator Contraptions
Somewhere on the list of "Obvious Combinator Applications", one can surely find "Smart Furnace Control Circuit". And this is one where combinators can definitely do a better job of it. So today I finally took a crack at it. I've always been unsatisfied with smart furnace designs....

Re: [0.12.0] Burner inserters cannot pickup item on Red belt.
Prior to 0.12, items coming off the end of a belt were the only situation in which an inserter would reach for the actual location of the item instead of magically snatching it off the belt without having to move. Now, we no longer have items pushed off the ends of belts, but all inserters seem to h...

Re: [0.12.1 - minor] MP - Repairing line of items stutters
In my experience, you still get everything repaired, even with the visual stuttering. Are you having it actually skip over and leave damaged walls behind? It's a massive improvement over 0.11, and as long as the end result is a fully repaired wall, I'm willing to accept the stuttering. Still, I'm su...

Re: [0.12.1] Self starting burner inserters problem B
It's only working as intended if the belt contains nothing but fuel. Otherwise, the burner inserter is still too stupid to prioritize picking up fuel when its own fuel is low. And (may or may not be related to this issue but also annoying) you can't use a burner inserter on a belt containing fuel an...

Re: [0.12] Hand stack automatically refills when splitting stack
What if, instead of dropping items out of the stack in hand and then auto-refilling it, the game simply subtracted the number of dropped items from the items in your inventory (if present) instead of the items in hand? That way, if someone wants to hold a full stack of 50 and drop as much as possibl...

[0.12.1] [Martin] Looped Chain Signals Stuck on Blue
While testing an issue someone was having with signaling a roundabout (no, I don't recommend them, but some people still like them) I found that even after all normal signals at the exits turn green, the chain signals remain blue because they all can see a blue chain signal, so they disregard the fa...

While it's true that you can hit alt before opening the main map like that (or, in fact, after opening the map), he asked how to do it without having to disable detail view.
