Re: More Armor modules

There's nay such thing as too many ideas. Some are good, some are less good. That's just how it works. I appreciate hearing that player logistics will get stronger in the future. Anyway. Kinetic charger probably wouldn't work with the idea of the exoskeleton, they're mutually exclusive ideas, becaus...

Re: [Request] ELECTRIC BOILER

An electric boiler is DANGEROUS. Why? Because boilers PRODUCE electricity. They should not consume electricity to make electricity. Then you just have an infinite energy sink. Why would you want an electric boiler? The only possible use is to cook excess solar power and store it in a steam tank. Thi...

Re: Self Driving Cars

Automated drones deliberately fly and trains deliberately stick to the tracks so that they don't have to run a pathing AI. Pathing kills CPUs very fast.

Re: balancing the tank (and other small things)

A tank with shields and laser turrets would be a sight to behold. Vehicle modules could work out well since a friggin TANK ends up weaker than a space marine in power armor. On second thought, what if player modules could plug into the tank? So a player can add their own laser turrets and shielding ...

Re: Bot Exclusion Zones

How is it that you're managing to build a logistic system that is both incredibly efficient and so grand sweeping that you have to worry about drones crossing into horrific no-bot lands? The only reason for a bot exclusion zone is so that drones don't risk themselves flying between distant bases. If...

Re: Diesel. Liquid fuel instead of solid fuel

That isn't acting as fuel, the energie source lies within the boilers, which burn carbon in form of Wood Coal or Solid fuel. How so? The water goes through processing so it can provide energy. It can be stored and piped and saved for a rainy day. Just like fuel. Anyway my point is that you CAN hack...

Re: [0.8] Campaign too difficult

Does anyone else have any success using up ALL the raw resources they start with? I don't think it's possible to manufacture ammo faster than the biters chew it up. Without laser turrets or some kind of ammo reclamation, there is no way to hunker down and end up with more supplies than when you star...

Re: Diesel. Liquid fuel instead of solid fuel

Afaik Steamboilers consume a fixed amount of liquid per/tick(second idk). It's irrelevant what fluid, its irrelevant how hot, it gets destroyed. That has very little to do with using liquid as fuel source, sorry to say. Also false. Steamboilers consume a UP TO a fixed amount of liquid per tick. The...

Re: Bot Exclusion Zones

How do you know when a robots path is outside the network? To check that you have to make some kind of boundary check with the networks edges and if the robots does go outside the network then you have to make a path for the robot. A) Don't build horseshoe networks. B) Use smaller, tighter, linear ...

Re: Bot Exclusion Zones

There's no need to deal with all this fancy pants pathing. Just have roboports part of a network. Everything inside the orange zone is a part of that network(chests, requesters, etc.), and orange zones that overlap merge into a larger network. Robots will not handle logistics outside this area becau...

Re: [0.8] Campaign too difficult

The combat mission is pretty difficult for many reasons: 1) Limited ammo. Face it, even huge crates of ammo will run out eventually. This can be pseudo-addressed by adding a mission time limit. After 30-40 minutes or so, it's safe to say the player burned out his resources to a point where he's gonn...

Re: Diesel. Liquid fuel instead of solid fuel

1. There is currently no mechanic to use a liquid as a fuel, it has to be an item But this is false. Steam boilers use water as fuel all the time. The burning yield and engine output are based on the water's "temperature", which is "processed" by burning the water. If this appro...

Re: Fight

IRL, smarter animals learn about "defense perimeters" as a natural understanding of territory. This may take a while, perhaps a few critters will get too close, teaching the rest an important lesson about keeping distance. This can make for more effective assault behavior. Critters gather ...

Clouds might not be difficult to implement using chunk logic. Anyone who has been outside is familiar with the effects of major cloud formations on the ground. Often the light change is gradual as the cloud density increases towards the middle, but cumulonimbus clouds can make very sharp edges of li...
