Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/387/236/a7e.jpg Let's see. Last week they were about to cut refinery to 100 Oil -> 40 PG. Over 30 pages of disagreements, dozens of alternative ideas by folks, some of them supported more than the original devs's. Voices heard! Now: 100 Oil -> 45 PG....

Automatic waste of byproducts
In short, is it possible to mod the operation of a refinery so it will: 1) continue production if at least one of it's outputs is below the half of the respective output storage limit; 2) waste any products that did not fit into the output storage limits by voiding the excess products and generating...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
--- It's getting funny to see how 30+ pages of intellectual work and critical analysis of hundreds of experienced players turned into a dice of few numbers and recipe changes. I guess I am not the only one understanding how pointless it is to waste time here, since in this 304-thread reincarnation c...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Um, guys, what if I tell you that there could be a solution to achieve all goals (realism, simplicity, game challenge) and satisfy everyone (devs, beginners & advanced players)? I proposed it few pages back already, but the more I think about it and the more I read new ideas here and see how (an...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
"understanding fluid backup is the key to efficiency, not the key to progression" - well put, good point. Though I see the solution differently. How about this: make all 3 outputs somewhat independent of each other: whenever at least one of the outputs reaches 0, then refinery takes anoth...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
My favored solution is still to have cracking early and have refineries only produce heavy oil. That makes it so that understanding fluid backup is the key to efficiency, not the key to progression. Maybe it doesn't reflect what an actual refinery does. But lots of things in the game don't. And it'...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
[...]change the chemical science recipe to solid fuel, electric engine, and something like red logic wire to maintain the copper price (possibly inspiring people to play with logic wires, no less--bots may make them free, but if they were automated, they'd see much earlier experimentation...). http...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Argh, no, I can't just quit slamming the door with angry face seeing devs stuffing customers' opinions down their asses while doing whatever they want with the game. Factorio is just too good to abandon it out of childish offense. Plus the ugly oil-for-dummies-patch proposed for today actually postp...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Well, it appears that all these pages of opinions were pointless and any more will be too. The decision seems to have been made and that will be that. I'm sorry that I dare to post counter arguments or my general impressions, but please convince me otherwise about those points if you believe I miss...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
I like the oil change. Oil processing in Factorio is a wall for new players because you have to learn many new concepts at once. In my opinion, the problem is that amount of concepts, not their difficulty. The concepts are "oil pumpjacks, oil refineries, outputs blocking recipes, chemical plan...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Yeah, later bots just prolongs the painful construction-by-hand-phase. Would be nice if the devs will remember that someone has put some lore in the base of the game long time ago. Would be nice to start with a few slow construction robots that do not need charging (to let them operate without perso...

Re: Multiplier Number For Assembly Machines recipe output
Agreed, there are many ways to achieve this already. But! The machines itself have some internal stack to accumulate untaken items and it seems arbitrary. F.e. furnaces hold up to the whole stack size of the product. It improves qol yarly game, but later on it is rather messy if one decides to move ...

Please postpone the modification to the New Oil Refining Recipes
The proposed change (luckily not implemented yet) made quite a stir in the community. Dear devs, please hold on implementing this one. Whichever problem you are trying to deal with this way, there must be a better option, better solution. The reasoning behind this change was not explained, but my gu...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Will bump my solution again - let boilers also run on gas/light/heavy oil. Burn anything unwanted/excess in boilers for steam power. No more fluid backup problems then, easy for beginners. Vanilla need to learn from mods sometimes, IMO. And just a side note, I think converting petroleum gas into sul...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Feel obliged to join common screams about oil recipe changes. No need to wait for Monday to see the obvious negative change in the gameplay experience: the players will be forced to setup solid fuel production based on gas, and then rebuild the whole system to switch it to light oil once advanced re...

Re: Turn wood into crude oil
Anyway, I'm kind of liking the setup I've done with wood -> petrol -> sulfur -> sulfuric acid + wood -> oil. A straight wood -> oil without any intermediary steps seems too easy, especially seems this allows you to bypass the need for an oil outpost Exactly! It allows to setup the oil-based product...

Nononono, wait! I am not demanding anything from anyone, don't take my pushy style too seriously - I am just making a suggestion for a mod trying to explain the reasons why do I suggest this and that specifically. And having some fun along the way to juice up the text, you know. :) We r just 1.5 gen...

Re: Turn wood into crude oil
Dear mr FuryoftheStars... Let me ask you directly: why is it so important for you to make the product to be a petroleum gas but not crude oil? Please explain... https://i.imgflip.com/22pw17.jpg If gas, then it creates a new logistic chain, which is surely temporary as downcracking is not an option a...
