Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
For the avoidance of doubt, please can you confirm what the exact inputs and outputs of the proposed new Basic Oil Processing recipe is? Is it 100 crude in, 100 petroleum out? Is it 100 crude in, 40 petroleum out? That's in the FFF- 100 crude in, 45 petro out: https://cdn.factorio.com/assets/img/bl...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
However this should not come at any cost. This change seems like it would greatly reduce the complexity of oil, especially for a megabase, as there is likely no need to ever use Advanced Oil Processing recipe or cracking. You just create heavy oil and light oil out of thin air? Neat. You could argu...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
I like the oil change. Oil processing in Factorio is a wall for new players because you have to learn many new concepts at once. .. The change described in the FFF reduces the amount of new concepts you learn at once by removing (delaying) one, outputs blocking recipes. So now you only have 3 inste...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Hi Devs, thankyou for this latest round of fixes. I'm particularly happy to be able to lay rails around objects again with the planner, and also about the laser turret glow :D Regarding the oil changes, I do not think this change is good, it definitely feels like a dumbing-down. While it might make ...

Re: [0.17.55] Stuck on "waiting for server to save map"
You're right about Escape being the universal cancel button. I'm a sys admin for my day job, and have over 4000 hours in factorio.. it still wasn't obvious to me. Maybe that makes me a dumbass, but I figured I'd report it anyway. Then it's up to you guys if you feel it's worth addressing or not.

Re: [0.17.55] Stuck on "waiting for server to save map"
I don't think I tried Escape. There's nothing on that screen to suggest that Escape would do anything.. (I guess it does though?)

[0.17.55] Stuck on "waiting for server to save map"
I experienced this issue just now when connecting to a public unpassworded vanilla multiplayer server. When I try to join, the server must save the map before sending it to the client. If for whatever reason the server does not save the map, the client gets stuck on this screen forever. stuck.png I ...

Re: [0.17.54-2] Update planner actions continue after deconstruction planner
I would personally vote to change it, as it's hard to see what possible use case there could be for upgrading entities only to deconstruct them. However there's a pretty obvious use case for the opposite way round, where the player starts an upgrade but then realises the upgrade won't be sufficient ...

Thankyou for continuing to fix things devs!! :D The bug reports forum is down to less than one page, I can't believe it! All other devs/games I've seen, the bug reports forum never gets empty. Stuff just accumulates, and only the recent things stand any chance of getting looked at. It's so cool that...

Re: [0.17.41] Some minor rendering bugs
The one that I was not aware of is the flickering black lines in map view: https://gyazo.com/734d6c2f345a0d3a3bce3ea6bea38a7d Some time ago, we have fixed problem with map tiles not tiling properly, so this is surprise to me. Do you know on what coordinates from start this happens? (And what is you...

Re: Friday Facts #299 - Everything is more complex than expected
The rules are simple: I use a simpler rule that doesn't conflict with the above to decide which type of signal to use: That is rule 3. That rule alone doesn't tell you where to place signals, only what kind. I just wanted to chime in that I think it's better to spend time learning and thinking abou...

Re: Respect Windows Storage Paths
There are a number of locations that I'm happy to see my saved games stored. Most importantly "with the game files" and "in %appdata%/%localappdata%" are not on that list, and I get a little frustrated every time I see another game save in one of these locations... because I kno...

Update regarding the black line: https://gyazo.com/734d6c2f345a0d3a3bce3ea6bea38a7d
The location of the line in this gif is roughly X=13800.0
However, I cannot reproduce this bug any more. Perhaps it was resolved by some other change since it was first recorded, or it could be my screwy hardware.

Re: [0.17.37] Crash on exit - ~BlueprintLibrary
Thanks for the report. Both crashes are in areas where it should never crash. Do you have any way to reproduce the crashes? On a related topic: have you been having any other PC issues (BSODs/crashes in other software?) The random crash locations makes me think a hardware issue on your end. Yes my ...
