Production deadlocks

Hello, everyone! Any recipe that has at least 2 outputs might potentially lead to a deadlock where overflow of 1 output blocks production of another output. And I want to discuss such recipes. Miners on the border of two patches. It is natural and minor problem. A bit annoying, but could be ignored....

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

Sorry for raising this old thread, but I've just read this FFF and got some ideas. 1) Hardness, Mining power. Production already has "time XXs" and "speed XX" parameters. Why miners will have "speed XX/s" and "time XX%" instead of the same format? 2) It's veee...

Re: Advanced Nuclear fuel reprocessing

I don't think the tier 3 recipe is really needed. Given that DCs and U-238 will be plentiful, the recipe doesn't do anything that other recipes can do; it's a pure convenience recipe. Tier 3 is needed to raise U238:U235 ratio above natural 142:1, so production will not stuck with U238 overflow. It ...

Tender wagon

What ? Special kind of cargo wagon that accepts only fuel and pushes it to adjacent locomotive. Questionable mechanics: Pushes fuel only being placed behind locomotive, not in front of. Can push fuel in both directions if is placed between two locomotives. Can push fuel to multiple chained locomoti...

Re: Make Pumps report amount pumped to the circuit network

I'm surprised this is not yet implemented, as this is very natural behavior. The same applies to offshore pumps and pumpjacks.

Re: Nuclear power OP

The main thing about nuclear is that you waste a lot of energy into thin air. Agree, uranium gives not a fixed amount of power, but more like nearly infinite power for limited time. And this time is huge compared to infrastructure required. That's what I don't like. It gives too much energy for too...

Re: Inserters behavior modification

@leadraven : blue belt, outputing to electric smelters with blue inserters as you said (3 items), and then my "nearly" full output blue belt with "actually" 2 stack inserters on a splitter (only one right now). My main problem is not that a lane is empty and the other not, its t...

Advanced Nuclear fuel reprocessing

TL;DR Sequence of nuclear fuel reprocessing technologies (recipes), that replaces Kovarex enrichment. Background First of all, nuclear energy is awesome. But for me, it is too simple. I'd like nuclear industry to be more complicated then just Kovarex enrichment (one simple recipe that solves all pr...

Re: Consumables, pollution, coal filters

If you add filters, you should add pollution cleaner to consume filters and clear pollution. I've mentioned cleaners... Why battery should increase power consumption? No. Reduce. I don't really care about explanation. I just like battery as intermediate item and wish it to have more industry applic...

Re: Removing fluid temperature - thoughts?

Let's unify steam temperature and regulate energy production only with steam throughput. Currently with 165C steam 1 pump can provide 36MW energy. 100 pumps for 3.6GW. I don't think we need overheated stem... Moreover, I'd say we can reduce steam energy capacity or pump throughput. 1 pump for ~10MW ...

Re: Removing fluid temperature - thoughts?

Ooooh, that's why steam cannot be stored in barrel... Barrels do not store information of temperature! I don't like temperature in its current implementation. I don't like possibility to mix steam of different temperatures. I don't like to have steam of different temperatures as different liquids. A...

Re: Inserters behavior modification

Are you using stack inserters for furnaces? Even blue inserters are overkill for them. Also I never had problems with taking from belt, only with putting on belt. Usually I have to place massive (and unreliable) lane balancers before any production with unbalanced items consumption. Anyway this prob...

Re: Where is my "Portable Nuclear Reactor" for my power armor?

Just replace Portable fusion reactor with Portable nuclear reactor. Keep size and power, just another recipe and technological dependencies. It would fit better to the game.

Consumables, pollution, coal filters

Sorry for multiple suggestions in one topic, but they are connected. First of all I suggest to increase pollution influence on the factory itself, not only biters. Examples : Solar panel produce less power in polluted regions (thanks to numerous previous suggesters). Polluted water cannot be used in...

Productivity modules could not be used with some recipes and it is not always clear. Typically, developers forbid individual recipes. I have some ideas how to organized it and slightly improve the game : New slots for "Catalysts" in all production buildings. Specific Catalists are required...

Steam energy development

Here are some ideas about improvement of steam energy : Make Boiler to overheat steam : better fuel -> higher temperature. Allow Steam engine to use overheated steam to the full. Split 50% efficiency penalty between Boiler and Steam engine. Present Steam turbine earlier in the tech tree. These chang...

Re: Offshore pump volume?

20 is pump's 100% productivity. If pump shows 20, it warks in full force and all pumped water is used. You need more pumps.
100 means you have surplus and water is stockpiling in tubes.

Extreme bases need extreme power and Nuclear power fills that role very well. Those super bases don't run for hour...
