Re: Friday Facts #278 - The new quickbar

Why do people want to persist quickbar pages when starting new game? In current game you have blue belts, electric furnaces and so on. Will you have them when you start a new game? So, whats the purpose of persisting? Or you just want to have e.g. first 3 rows for early game, 3 for mid and rest for...

Re: Friday Facts #278 - The new quickbar

On second thoughts, maybe when joining a game for the first time, the quickbar should be copied across, but only up to the current tech level. This means when starting a new game you won't have lots of tempting-but-out-of-reach shortcuts of locked technology, but when joining a server, you'll have a...

Re: Friday Facts #278 - The new quickbar

Automatically turning on ghost place when construction robots/blueprints/whatever is unlocked sounds smart. Also retaining the ability to turn it on yourself in the options as well maybe (the option should be "allow ghost placing before construction robots researched") The quickbar looks a...

Re: Friday Facts #277 - GUI progress update

I used to play quite a bit of the wave defence, but it got a bit boring after a while - I could just blueprint the entire base just before it was destroyed and start again, immediately rebuilding the factory to that state at the beginning of the next playthrough. The solutions seems simple - add an ...

Re: Friday Facts #271 - Fluid optimisations & GUI Style inspector

I love the high resolution poster! I think the track ends a little too early though and should continue off the edge - having the signal directly before the buffers seems a bit odd (even to the un-factorio-trained eye) Anyone might think the track is a bit pointless just cutting through everything b...

Re: Friday Facts #265 - Nomenclature & Steam networking

The whole "ghost" concept is a silly internal-name leak. Ask anyone who never played factorio what a ghost is and they most definetly won't start talking about construction plans. This is a good point - a great example of what the FFF was trying to emphasise. A word which without thinking...

Re: Friday Facts #265 - Nomenclature & Steam networking

I like the idea of the survey ('slurp' made me laugh! Not sure if that should be the official term...) However, I would put your (developers) own judgment first - us players like keeping things the same and won't have thought through all the exact inconsistencies between terms as much as you obvious...

Satisfactory - 3D Factorio?

Just revealed on E3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_lmP8jYVLs ( https://www.satisfactorygame.com/ ) It looks very much like Factorio, and the technologies seem to be quite similar (plastic, refineries etc.) but maybe that's to be expected. I'm not sure it's quite similar enough to be a 'rip off',...

Not experiencing lag with blueprints, but some of them don't appear at all when they're in the cursor and can't be placed - anyone else?

Re: Version 0.16.7

A shame about the change with fluid wagons - I had a train with each of the cracked oil components in each compartment going in to the main base which was perfect!

Re: Friday Facts #219 - Cliffs

Inspired by Andrzejef, I think a terraforming drone would be a really cool idea: It would work similar to existing bots but instead on moving items or de/constructing buildings, it uses landfill or cliff explosives (or whatever other landscaping items get added). I understand why current robots aren...

Re: Factorio Friday Friday Facts #203 - Logistic buffer chest

I'm very excited for the buffer chests! My only disappointment with them is that my 5 by 4 compact design which did the same thing will now be redundant... It was essentially a buffer chest in itself: Using circuit conditions and combinators, 100 items were requested by a requester. Once all 100 wer...

I think he meant in the main menu you get when you click play. If it is already there, it should be more obvious: eg.

Tutorial feedback (as requested by devs)

Note: I wasn't entirely sure which forum to put this is so please move it if it fits better elsewhere. Also since it isn't a feature suggestion and just feedback on existing content, I did not use the 'idea template'. In FFF-196, the devs requested feedback on their first tutorials. Since most of us...

Thanks! Now I looked at it, the maths didn't quite add up ;)

Not many people use it, but it's quite handy nonetheless.

Re: modders get rich?

Thank you very much Meems and Buggy123 for such an amusing read! :) :) I shall definitely bookmark: MMOs and You, a guide by a irritated forum-goer The thing which I'm seeing here, which I have found in many other smaller games with relatively large active modding communities, is the relationship be...

Re: Hover Boots!

If you look in the map editor, there is already a piece of modular armour equipment called "Belt immunity equipment" which has pretty much the same effect. However, since it isn't in the game yet, I would assume they are still fiddling with it. Perhaps 'HOVER BOOTS™ ' are a good solution t...
