Re: Friday Facts #219 - Cliffs
Dudes -- the Factorio cliffs are beautiful, I really like them, but from a game-internal view they are nothing else than a impassable, unmineable wall . There is no "up" and "down", not even the concept of it! So "diagonal" pipes or belts, shooting "uphill" o...

Re: Friday Facts #218 - Import bpy, Export player
I would like to take this opportunity to ask modders to keep this in mind, as I have noticed multiple mods using 1.0 Alpha values in colour mask tint. The Alpha is black magic, keep it at 0.5 please. If the functionality of your "alpha" is not the same as the alpha-channel to set opacity ...

Re: Friday Facts #212 - The GUI update (Part 1)
You should always use explicit parens anyway, instead of EVER depending on precedence and associativity, because it's SO easy to get it wrong (like assuming && and || have the same precedence, which is an easy sensible mistake to make, but that's just how it is: an arbitrary convention) and...

Re: Friday Facts #201 - 0.15 Stable, but not really
Would it help to reduce the memory latency by converting some/most of the pointer indirections between items and objects in memory to a more array-like structure, over which the logic and the memory access can just iterate instead of jump around? And once you have a, say, 1024-objects-in-a-array sla...

Re: Friday Facts #198 - Rail segment visualisation
I also propose CRC -> SHA-* as you don't use it permanently (only when loading/saving) so performance hit is a non-issue and it's more future-proof.
Actually, I was astounded to get to know you use a meager CRC for creating object-hashes...

Re: Chunk-aligned modular railway system with LTN Stations
Well done! I was in the process to create a chunk-aligbed railsystem myself, with 8-blue-belt load/unload stations with led indicators and everything -- I think I can now stop that :D The modules you created are very very similar to mine so I can drop my designs in peace. Would you like some screen...

Re: Modular Extensible PnP Factory
Here you are :) (see attachment to post) It's my most recent savegame, alas from Factorio version 0.12.30, but it should import fine into 0.15 (modulo Alien Artifacts, new tech and recipes, new red/blue underground belt lengths, the optional Nixie Tubes-mod, ...) Happy tinkering! - and thanks for yo...

Re: Modular Extensible PnP Factory
I unfortunately deleted a copy of your save dee and the link no longer works. In particular I was trying to recall your design for Solar Panels but can't seem to get it as compact as I remember. Are you able to upload another copy of your save or a copy of your latest version if you have one? Hi :)...

Re: Glowing heat pipes
There are some glow-related properties for heat pipe in entity.lua. I tried modifying them, but they don't do anything. However, if you think realistically, if the pipes are glowing, it means they fail to keep the heat energy inside them. Heat energy is lost from their surface. Anything touching th...

In fact, they're not, although very close.
The accumulator grey is different (more reddish) than the concrete tile color (more greyish): you can see it in the upper red box you marked.

Re: Slimline train unloader/loader
For my new chunk-aligned base I use this contraption as a wagon-to-belt unloading station: http://i.imgur.com/c8ZY2wA.jpg It is able to unload a (L)CCCCL> train into buffer chests and those chests to 8 fully compressed blue belts (for higher throughput demands). The design is not as flat as yours (6...
