As a player, I don't care about internally. I care about what I can see! For something that isn't used in any recipes, Produced - Killed = Number on Map. Or at least it should!

TL;DR Placing waterfill under buildings (and vehicles, drones, etc) destroys the entity. This is fine and expected. The destroyed entity is not included in Kills/Losses statistics. While playing Seablock, I click Play Tutorial to start Train schedules & train stops. It immediately crashed with the following error and returned me to my game. All the other tutorials work fine. Not sure if you want to investigate this or not due to the number of mods but figured I'd report it...

The boards can still be made from wood, just with extra steps ... By far the easiest way to mass produce wooden boards seems to be via Carbon and Naptha to synthetic wood.
