I have a 12k SPM and vanilla default settings. All belts except ores, ores are brought in by long trains. Around 9UPS when fully running, 45UPS when science is stopped. I probably have one of the biggest cleared/walled areas. 280x550 chunks. The reason you are at 45UPS when idle is the explored map...

Yes I would like it to be just like any other game, it's saved in a folder in mydocuments. The reason is when you reformat your PC, everything you need to save should be in the users/documents|pictures|etc folders. Thank you devs!!! I'm really excited that Factorio is heading towards multi-threading I'm not sure, but will Factorio be one of the first big simulation games to use all 32 threadripper cores? I have the 16-core right now, so I'm excited!

omg does this mean Factorio will be able to use TR2 32 cores? At least when it comes to fluids? Do the belts work this way as well?

I'm at 10k SPM vanilla, so I'm working on 20k SPM next. But it gets so slow so I might just drop it before then. I have to turn off science to get back up to 60UPS when I'm building, but when fully operational I'm at 15-20 UPS atm.

hey, one quick dirty "fix" would be to decrease the speed taht the game runs. So your computer has more time to display it. Everything will be slower, but you have more fps and its playable again. :D https://wiki.factorio.com/Console#Change_game_speed No, UPS is the issue, and FPS is lock...

What's your SPM? also yes the main core of the game only uses one core, but it uses other cores for other tasks. Just search the forum for multi core and you'll see the answers why.
