Re: Transport Belt down shows wrong graphic
There are two issues, first is "white shadow" issue, second is the rotation of the belt. The white shadow, is when something should be part of the transparent layer, but is not. The rotation of the belt, is when within the graphic file something is not in the correct position, or the code ...

Re: Collision Mask modding question
Thanks for the code segments. I finally had an opportunity to take detailed look at the samples you provided. In order for the data.lua to work, i.e. for the short data.lua to be interpreted by Factorio, I had to make the following change to line 4: local new_character = table.deepcopy (data.raw.pla...

Re: Collision Mask modding question
Thanks, for the guidance, I'll now work on breaking it down into substeps to implement as I am learning the APIs and lua.

Collision Mask modding question
Is there a way to change the collision mask of a player's avatar, from "player layer" to "object layer", based on the equipment placed into armor. If so, how would I do that. Practical application in a mod would be like a piece of equipment inserted into armor, like a flotation d...

Re: Low resolution option is gone T^T
Based on my experience, where as for .16 I had to run on normal resolution, .17 works just find on high resolution now. I checked the patch notes, and there were several optimizations done internally where memory usage is more efficient allowing for better resolution on lower end machines and graphi...

Re: Private trains?
I set up an LLCCCCCCC train which gets restocked at the main base and usually carries enough stuff to drop an average sized outpost. A second LLACCCCA train is set up facilitate clearing an area frontier area out and expanding the base. Additionally I have a few LC trains, that I have pre-programed ...

Re: Lategame mining options are lacking
For this example, I will stick with copper mining. About the time I launch the first rocket, I depleted the mines from which I using belts to transport the copper to the smelting area, and have 5 different copper mines. Each copper mine is serviced by a L-CCCC train which transports the copper ore t...

Re: [0.17.0] Laser turret damage research lost after loading map in 17
+1 on this, I also concur, there should be some algorithm to convert completed research on a map in .16 into comparable levels in .17. This problem cropped up not just with laser turret damage, but also with mining proficiency, where I was sitting at 370 mining in mining and when the mining change c...

Re: 0.17 Coal Liquefaction
This is actually a great change! What no one mentioned is lube, which is in much higher demand late in the game in .17 then it was in .16. Especially, since we now need to make robot frames, which need electric engines, and which needs lube, and the only way to make lube is from heavy oil. This chan...

Re: 0.16 -> 0.17 Yellow tech science
Yellow now needs a larger footprint for set up, but by that time in the game it is no longer an issue. My bigger concern is the leap from red/green to blue, with so logistically locked behind oil based products, which in most cases is locked behind trains, to move the get the oil to your main base. ...

Re: Map gen puts enemies too close
+1
I concure with enemies to close. The way I mitigate it by expanding the size of the start up area.
The second issue I noticed is that cliffs are are also too close to the start up area. Once cliff explosive is researched, and sulfur production is in up, they are not an issue.

Re: Need some Real achievements
ADF, Take a look at https://mods.factorio.com/mod/MxlChievements, for a mod that expands and adds adds achievements. You do need a rather large base for some of the achievements available in that module. Beyond that, the base game has some silly and some interesting achievements. With .17.xx out, I ...

Re: Artillery Auto-fire Toggle
+1 on this idea also.
There are situations where I want a train to just pull up, and open up on everything in range. There are other situations where I it is better for me to manually target where I want the artillery to fire upon.

Re: Version 0.17.9
If the issue is DNS resolution to the correct server, there is a way we as users can resolve that at our end. That would be editing the lmhosts.sam file located in %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\ on NT and later windows based computers. What your computer's DNS look-up does is first check lmhosts fil...

Re: Version 0.17.9
nuhll, I have possible solution for you. Consider using free VPN. Some companies offer free trial, and even free connect, which limit the number of servers you can connect to. That will chance your IP address to that of the VPN server and may solve your problem. Several viable VPN options to look at...

Re: Version 0.17.9
Well, there is a change with the updator, but I am still getting a failure message attempting to updated for 17.8 to 17.9. The OS is W10. Some of the thing I tried was the base update, as well as updating as the administrator. The .zip file still works well.

Re: How many main bus lines do you generally use?
For me, I start out with a one mixed line of copper and iron for the pre-base build. That is mostly to build the tools to build a base. The actual base will end up with 6 lines of iron (2 on one side of the bus and 4 on the other side) 6 lines of copper (2 on one side of the bus and 4 on the other s...
