Planes are just like Trains... but with no rails and bigger stations, which will leave trains obsolete. I mean sure you'd still use trains in the mid-game, but as soon as you unlock planes, there would be no reason to keep laying new rail when you can just throw down a runway somewhere and have aero...

Nope, since you wont be playing with anyone you set latency as low as it can go. If you're gonna be using console commands be sure to check that box before you load your map

Rockets can send small amounts of times. A automatic request system could call down a supply rocket or supply drop when its needed. What would be required is ships!
Ship pathing is straight forward, open water... just make a beeline for the port.
Ports could work similar to train stops.
Freight ships carry freight. Smaller ships carry the player.
Sea based combat? Enemy fish? Deep sea worms? Lots of possibilities

My main problem with rockets is that I don't see how they can NOT be game breaking. By late game a player has enough resources to say, shoot 1000 of every item into space. Then you can (almost) instantly call whatever you need to any spot on the map. At that point you might as well just make a tele...

The reason why I defend the rocket idea is the "quick emergency very long range, small cargo" aspect of it.. If the goal is just to set up a regular transporting route that will just be faster than trains, I'd say "why ? just add more trains". With the rocket idea, I try to fill...
