Re: FFF Topic Request

Care to elaborate? What is bad about fluids? Doesn't it make sense that they try to approximate real fluid dynamics? They they have a feeling of actually flowing. Of course it is going to be more messy than eg the constant speed of belts, but with the chart I quoted there is no problem. (sorry for ...

Re: FFF Topic Request

This is all the info you need which is not readily available in-game: Umm, what are we looking at? What are axis labels? You know, reading the original topic is probably all you need. XKnight did a series of tests and that graph is probably the most important summary. https://forums.factorio.com/vi...

Re: Iron Chests, An Idea for Conversion and Re-Use

So in my current game, I have large deposits of various ores sitting where I'd like to expand my factory. These deposits both outstrip my capacity to smelt and to use these resources at this time. Self-imposed "OCD"-induced "ore fields are lava"-style rules are not a problem in ...

Re: FFF Topic Request

I do agree that FFF on fluids would be nice. Especially if the planned upgrade of fluid system would arrive for 0.17. As for your setup - I'm not sure if wiki gives it as a hint but don't merge so many pumps into one pipe. Fluid system gets really tricky then - try to use separate water pipes per p...

FFF Topic Request

TL;DR - I would like to see an FFF on the topics of pumps, fluid systems, and forced solar from the devs at some future point of their choosing. I just want to understand what their thoughts are and what to expect. Why? I did a fast search on three keywords on the blog page listing all of the FFF b...

Re: Iron Chests, An Idea for Conversion and Re-Use

I haven't even reached the point of trains yet lol. What I am doing is strip mining entire ore fields into large arrays of chests so I can access the land underneath them for my master planned base layout. Think of master planned communities in the real world. First they drive the roads into pure wi...

Re: GPU Usage?

Not sure why you moved this thread. I made it to collect information on how the game is processed so I can brainstorm ideas to give to the devs to help them better optimize belt performance so the question of system performance can be ignored in the bots vs belts debate. Since you say the GPU is bei...

GPU Usage?

I am curious to know how much Factorio utilizes the GPU during gameplay?

Re: HOW-TO: Playing on multiple computers

If you have Steam installed, and have Steam cloud enabled in the Steam client for Factorio, then the Steam will upload your saves, to make it easier to play on multiple computers. That is pretty much a standard feature of recent games with Steam integration. I have the feature turned off in Steam, ...

Not enough
I read that quote as "Potato Solar Panels" and upon seeing the max output, that seems right. :)

Re: Iron Chests, An Idea for Conversion and Re-Use

It takes 50 red science to research steel. At that point you can build steel chests. You could have setup one assembler automating red science, and have that finished in 10 minutes. The only time I've ever built iron chests is when wood was scarcer than iron. I like to play with expensive research ...

Re: Iron Chests, An Idea for Conversion and Re-Use

When I realized I couldn't re-use my iron chests for anything, I restarted my game on a new map. I had built almost 10,000 iron chests making "warehouses" for the ore I was strip mining that was sitting where I wanted to build my large scale smelting arrays, my science production, AND my s...

Re: Option to disable no-power flashing

Really should just be a simply toggle in options for static or flashing warning icons. If you toggle static warnings on, then when there is a power shortage or whatever is causing the warning, the icon will appear on top of the structure and sit there without blinking at you.

Add a fifth slot column for New Blueprint and Deconstruction Planner that can be hot keyed?

I could dig that, though, the whole blueprint UI system needs to be overhauled.

Iron Chests, An Idea for Conversion and Re-Use

TL/DR? Allow for Iron Chests to be either smelted down into 1 bar of steel (causing a loss of 3 iron plates), or allow for Iron Chests to be used with 7 bars of steel to produce a Steel Chest. THE PROBLEM? So in my current game, I have large deposits of various ores sitting where I'd like to expand...

Tree Stumps Need to Decay

TL;DR Add tree stumps and stone rock remains to the list of things that decay and fade away. What ? When you start clearing rocks and forests to make room for expansion, graphical artifacts are left behind that never go away. These are the stumps of the trees and smaller rocky debris from the large...

Re: Quality of Life Blueprint Building

I just bought this game a few days ago after seeing a random video of it on youtube. Yesterday I started to experiment with blueprints. To be honest, I they are both quite a nice and useful tool, but one that is also extremely frustrating. From being actual inventory space consuming items, to the no...

Re: Limit offshore pump output depending on lake size

Frankly, I don't think tracking other pumps would be a good idea. This line of thinking quickly runs into issues with pumps that are currently inactive, or only partially active, and calculating all that is probably ok for computer, but would make planning hell. So if a lake is just enough to fully...
