Re: Underground belt lane splitting, anyone else hate it?

The artwork for the hi-resolution underground has a cutout on the shroud when a belt side feeds into one. This makes it clear this is now an intended bit of functionality.

Re: The Problem With Pickaxes - Digging Out Factorio's Core

First off, just gonna say, I am not a coder. All I know about coding is the extreme bare bones basics. So with that in mind, I have to ask, "How are player tools, weapons, armor, and so forth handled by the game?"

The game's core, I would think, would handle all the code that is absolutely required ...

Re: Start Menu: I'm feeling lucky?

When I hear of an option like this, I picture clicking the button would generate a new map with completely random variables without any prior preview. Basically a 1 button click from the main menu to get into a brand new game in 1 click.

Just imagine if you randomize ALL the settings...

Re: Factorio Roadmap for 0.17 & 0.18

The hard facts are:
„If you can’t pay the rent you have to move out.“
This counts no matter if you sell toilet-paper, cars, cookies, jewelry or computer games.
Anyone requesting or expecting free updates to a once bought product in infinite is a childish dreamer as this doesn't work in the real ...

Re: Underground belt lane splitting, anyone else hate it?

That is why I pointed out that sarcolopter was bumping a thread over a year after the last post. That said, I also didn't discover this game until March of 2018. With the coming changes in 0.17, I doubt using splitters for filtering will have any meaningful negative impact upon the game's ...

Re: The Problem With Pickaxes - Digging Out Factorio's Core

If you look at my suggestion I'm not talking about a manual upgrade planner. I'm talking about an automatic one where you define what you want to upgrade (same as upgrade planner) but the robots automatically upgrade parts of your factory they pick if you have enough items in stock. This way ...

Gonna point out a few things relating to the new posts and not the original topic:

This thread was over a year old when you bumped it. @Sarcolopter
You didn't even post on the topic of discussion but instead replied on a completely off topic. @Sarcolopter

Long Reach

So I grabbed the mod Long Reach to place a few bits of land fill that my bots wouldn't do (despite easily being in range of my personal roboport.) After placing the landfill, I went back and turned the mod off. However, I still have the longer reach the mod gave me. Is there a console command that ...

Re: The Green Dilemma

Been reading this thread and I confess I find the debate y'all are having to be funny. I feel like y'all are forgetting the most important thing of all.

Factorio is a video game!

What y'all are discussing could make for some interesting basis for some scenario type mods, however would not be ...

Re: Aren't construction bots available too late?

I know I'd have my armor and tools stashed in my escape pod for damn sure.

What if there were only 3 inventory slots in that pod?

(I would personally go construction bot, roboport, and probably assembly machines I guess, maybe electric miner or even burner drills. Three because you start with a ...

Re: Aren't construction bots available too late?

Having launched my first rocket in one game, all new games I make, I use the addon Mega Bot Start. Gives me a Mk2 armor, 4 fusion reactors, some batteries, I think 2 personal roboport mk2s, and 50 bots. Makes sense to me as well if you go by the scenario given by the devs that you are a survivor of ...

My games are very green. I just turn off pollution in the map options. :) I can also plant saplings that grow into trees.

Re: Corrected a Mod, Now Won't Show

Yes, I did zip it. However, I did so by right clicking the folder and "sending to zipped folder" using the Windows interface. I don't have a separate stand alone zip program. I followed the directions given on the wiki.

I was trying to modify the addon: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/XL_Chests

Let me try this question then since no one has an answer for my first one, how do you manually install a mod?

Corrected a Mod, Now Won't Show

So I wanted to give the mod "Extra Large Chests" a try and was given an error. A fast look at the mod portal showed that others had the same error occur and someone posted that a "then" was missing on line 3 of a file. I unzipped the mod and made the necessary correction and then rezipped the folder ...

Formulas?

Is there a central repository of all the different formulas used to math out factory production? Just be clear, I am NOT looking for any mod, calculator, spreadsheet, or other "punch in desired production here and we will do the rest for you" sort of thing. I am just looking for a handy cheat sheet ...

Re: FFF Topic Request

I personally found it counter-intuitive when I tried to build steam power setups that used large arrays of piping. With small systems that are relatively straight forward, it works as expected. What is particularly counter-intuitive is the fact that input sides of consuming structures are "negative ...
