MOAR WIRES
TLDR: Add more wires (blue and yellow?) for signals. Why? Complex wiring is complex and can get very messy, and it can be an ache to put lots of lines of pylons down to keep circuits separate. Different colours would help to pick out where circuit paths are going. If we could also do something like ...

Re: Modern Underground Pipes/Belts
This seems like it would involve a new layer or two in the game. I think that would be a cool idea but you'd need to think about how to visually see what's in underground pipes or underground belts.

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
Been rereading the FF post, and I think my suggestion here does actually do what Kovarex said: They should still be a big and powerful advancement when they are researched, but they should work more like the death spell. It should solve the little stuff that isn't that powerful (in Factorio, it is e...

Re: Lets talk production window, shall we? :)
This is actually really interesting because it gives you something new to chase in your designs, which is how you can end up spending 8 hours on something you didn't mean to! Like yes I know you can do it with spreadsheets and mathing it out now, but it would be an interesting thing to have a litera...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
That wins big time over big belt systems that is either tedious or blueprint stamped for bots to build. So what? Boo hoo. You're bored. Your problem. It is quite literally a problem that the devs themselves have raised. Maybe it's not really a problem or maybe it is. Maybe the solutions are a few t...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
And, yes, I'm aware that this change basically amounts to "implement TCP/IP in the logistics system" and is therefore significantly non-trivial, so I could accept the devs saying that it's too hard

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
OK. So. I've been thinking about this and here's my thoughts on it. Factorio is a fractal game. The massive outputs and 1000 rocket-per-minute builds all come down to the interactions of thousands of simple and individual components which are arranged in a complex branching tree structure. The robot...

Re: Requester station output signals for filtering
Unloading only requested items and amounts is exactly what the stations i posted in design thread and previous post do. OK, I worked it out, I was testing by dropping things into the cargo wagons, but it doesn't know about those. It only works with the things that were in when it leaves the depot b...

Re: Requester station output signals for filtering
Is there a list of what signals should be sent in what states? For eg in the stations blueprint thread the requester station description says "When a train arrives the expected train inventory is sent from the output alongside the train composition." There probably needs to be something to...

Re: Requester station output signals for filtering
Right, so this is expected behaviour. OK. So the trick is to make sure nothing is left in the wagons between runs, rather than expect the station to filter only for what it expects? As long as that's what is expected I can work with that. I was just thinking that it should only be unloading what it ...

Re: Requester station output signals for filtering
Hold on. The output signal is supposed to be what should stay in the train based on the previous order, rather than what should be unloaded? So it can't cope with unexpected items in the load, such as copper left over from a previous run or something, that it doesn't know about? I thought that was s...

Re: Requester station output signals for filtering
No, I mean it's not outputting anything for the whole duration it's in the stop. The screenshot shows a station with a train in, delivering ore, that's been there for a while. There's no output from the combinator. It seems like there should be, is this expected behaviour or is something wrong somew...

Requester station output signals for filtering
I've been trying out the LTN system and I can't get the standard blueprints for station combinator setups to control the filters of the stack inserters to work. When a station is working as a provider it outputs the order from the output combinator. However, it looks as if it's not outputting the sa...

Re: [0.10.12] [Mac] Game crashes on startup (at 10%)
Hi I am having similar issues with a crash on game start. Doesn't matter which version I download, i tried the last two stable versions and the latest release. I cannot find a config.ini file in my app's config folder to try the low res graphics fix. This is bothersome. Could I just create one, or i...
