[0.17.18] no updates available for auto update
Playing Factorio on my new linux laptop from direct download, not via Steam. I missed a couple of days while off using the old Windows laptop playing via Steam, and when I came back, I seem to be stuck at version 18 - the auto updater tells me there are no available updates. Is there any way to get ...

[0.17.19]crash opening research screen
What was I doing? traveling by train when research finished; went to open research screen using T. Game locked and a few seconds later crashed. I had been using the research queue and at least one other research had completed a few minutes earlier with no issues. Plain vanilla, no mods, Steam versio...

Re: .17 coal power ratios
So, we get: Coal per boiler per second: 1.8/4=.45 Miners per boiler: .5 / .45 = 1.111 Boilers per belt: 15 / .45 = 33.33 Miners per belt: 15 / .5 = 30 Boilers per pump: 1200/60=20 IOW, a very easy setup is 30 miners feeding a yellow belt going to two rows of 16 or 17 boilers each fed by one pump. I...

Check for updates before cropping sprites
The automatic updater is very handy, thank you for providing that ability! Because of the frequent updates, I am particularly noticing that the game starts up, crops all the sprites and loads everything you need to play... and then checks for updates. And as soon as the update is downloaded, you get...

Re: Version 0.17.14
I agree setting up the wait conditions for a single stop for a train is quite nice but managing 200+ trains and 200+ stops is still a pain. It would be great to be able to minimize the wait conditions for a stop, to be able to minimize the conditions for all the stops with one click, to be able to s...

Re: Friday Facts #286 - Pollution cleanup
Just wanted to say how much I enjoy reading the Friday Facts posts. Seeing how the processes work behind the scenes, both technically and administratively are great - the amount of insight is amazing. I can't agree enough - it is so cool to peek inside the office to see what is going on. Thank you ...

[0.17.6] unable to select items
What did I do? I picked up a factory to move it somewhere else. What happened? I could not select the factory from the quickbar or from my inventory using left click. I could select placed factories, chests etc and inspect them. I tried to save and quit, and I could not click any buttons in the menu...

Re: Version 0.17.5
I just started a new game, research queue set to always, and I have no queue. I saw a couple of people reporting this in multiplayer but I am in single player mode (on Steam, from Windows, if that makes a difference).

Ha ha! I was turning around in a circle, setting everything on fire around me... and then, there we were, surrounded by fire.Ranakastrasz wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 4:19 pmHow..... How did you not manage to escape the forest fire on foot? Did you get stuck on the trees or something? I mean, fire spreads pretty slowly.

Yeah, I meant to make red circuits. I did. But… why would I make red circuits when I could make flamethrowers? :D Ah those were the days! I remember making my first flamethrower, and making my husband come play so I could show him how it worked, because as we all know flamethrowers are really cool....

Really happy about everything in today's post. A huge thank you to Bilka, having the wiki up-to-date right away is going to be a huge time-saver for me, while keeping the 0.16 available in the stable branch. So excited for launch next week!

Re: make hand-crafting only possible when stationary
Character exhaustion. Every item your character crafts will cause exhaustion to build up, reducing your crafting speed and maybe your walking speed. Hmm I wonder if you could make a mod that would add a small risk of unintended consequences from crafting while walking, like stumbling over an uneven...

I think my son-in-law found it first, and when my daughter saw him playing it, she messaged me right away: "Mom, I think I found a game you will like." After ahem mumble thousands of hours later, I still love it. Thank you Mostly Harmless and Inflicting MHz <3

Re: Friday Facts #279 - Train GUI & Modern Spitter
One technique I found very useful is for my administrative trains, once that either I ride to have a train station named "Come to me" defined in the train's schedule. This way if I am out away from the base, I can always run up to a train track, drop a station, and name it "Come to m...

Re: Fish
What Fish? I wondered the same thing the first time I saw a reference to fish. Go to a lake, they seem to be in shallow water, not deep water (light blue not dark blue), and you will see teeny-tiny shadows moving around. Fish! Mine them the same way you mine trees or rocks. Check out the wiki for p...

Re: Removing fluid temperature - thoughts?
I would not be upset if fluid temperature was removed; having two items, hot fluid and cold fluid, handles a lot of use cases, and having the fuel value provides more fine-grained control when that is needed. I seem to remember it being possible to use other fluids in boilers as well, but do we real...

Re: Friday Facts #278 - The new quickbar
I like the change from the toolbelt holding items (carrying the weight of the locomotive, tank and car around my waist has been killing me) to shortcuts (all that weight in my backpack is going to be so much more comfortable)! I also really like the 8 extra rows of shortcuts! I am not too fussed abo...
