It's the lowest effort solution if the devs can't change inserters that way because it is already in the game and just needs some polish.Deadly-Bagel wrote:Can anyone answer why loaders would be better than allowing 2x Stack Inserters to fully compress/consume a belt?

Re: Item weight and limits on bots & inserters
Not possible. Requested, was denied for performance reasons. https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=57102 Even if we had it, reverting them to unstacked form would mean that bots can pick up more than they should be able to. A flag on items to say "bots can't pick this up" w...

Re: Item weight and limits on bots & inserters
All it takes to keep bots from interacting with stacked stuff is to auto-convert it back to unstacked items if they enter any inventory. Why do you feel the need to limit inserter interaction with stacked items tho? As they are in the mod you linked, they aren't used in any recipe other than unstack...

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
Oh so it only happens if I mess around with stations at the exact moment when a train is in a loop then? Well that would explain why it never happened to me. I never control stations via circuits and if I remove one, the train is most likely not driving but waiting at the station because the ore fie...

Re: Roboport Wagon! (To help with RailWorld)
I don't understand why people play like this.
Just box all the resources in with turrets, you'll never have to drive a train through biters.

Re: Loaders?
Do loaders need to be an early yellow belt thing tho?
Inserters are plenty fast enough to deal with those and there is not enough of a difference in speed between red and blue belts to justify 2 separate tools in my menu.

Re: Rail Upkeep
You do realize, if there was an automated rail repair machine that drives on rails, you would need 2 rails for it to work because that's what it takes for an arbitrary amount of trains to to reach every section of rail? 1 rail systems would get destroyed by a random blockade, 2+ rail systems get min...

Re: Loaders?
I've noticed that pretty much all loaders in the mods I have tried come in tiers of 3.
Why is that? Wouldn't it make more sense to have just 1 infinitely fast loader and if they are so powerful, make it post blue belts?

Blueprints don't sync?
That seems more buggy than suggestion-y.
In the meantime, you can always make a testmap with your most commonly used blueprints to pick them up.

Re: Attacking biters with turrets makes all weapons pointless
All things in the game should have a purpose, Laser turrets don't require ammo and it pretty much obsoletes any other defense. I suggest a nerf to the laser turrets DPS since it doesn't use ammo. A heavier ammo reliant turret that is as strong as the laser turrets before they got nerfed should give...

Re: Stack Inserter Drop Stack Onto Belts
Personally I would rather see the devs go with something like https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=190&t=57264 . If the devs did a vanilla implementation of that then you could remove the beltboxes, and stack inserters could gain an option to deposit stacks on belts, and to transparently...

Nothing in the logistics tab pollute, not even trains.Aeternus wrote:Anything that consumes energy, pollutes. Pumps consume energy, thus generate minor pollution. Inserters do as well, I think.
You will find all pollution coming from items in the production tab.
Pumps are the only exception.

That would almost be as annoying as the iron ore required in concrete.

Re: [MOD 0.16.x] Deadlock's Stacking Beltbox (& Compact Loaders)
Well I see them as throughput enhancers. A variant on splitters and while it is true that they technically convert an ingredient into a product, its only function is to be unpacked again unlike something like green circuits which you can not unpack into 1 iron and 1.5 copper.

Electric pumps shouldn't pollute
Every other logistics based tool such as inserters, pipes, bots or even trains don't generate pollution so to bring them in line, electric pumps shouldn't pollute either since they are clearly not production facilities. It just came up somewhere else and I suppose this is an oversight from the rail ...

Re: [MOD 0.16.x] Deadlock's Stacking Beltbox (& Compact Loaders)
Assemblers pollute, pumpjacks pollute, electric pumps pollute, centrifuges, electric furnaces ... And miners, oil refineries, chemical plants. Yeah those. Those are production. And now that you mention it, the electric pump is the only exception and is probably an oversight. Makes me want to report...

Re: [MOD 0.16.x] Deadlock's Stacking Beltbox (& Compact Loaders)
Just saying in case you value consistency, pollution in vanilla is entirely a production thing and is never used in logistics.
That's why trains don't pollute even though they burn something and electric mining drills do even though they are electric.

Re: [MOD 0.16.x] Deadlock's Stacking Beltbox (& Compact Loaders)
Guess I'll have to use it with loaders too then. Another thing, those things generate pollution. I have to disagree with that since neither inserters nor bots generate pollution. Pollution only has a fixed amount that you can do nothing about if it comes from burner miners and furnaces. The beltboxe...

Re: [MOD 0.16.x] Deadlock's Stacking Beltbox (& Compact Loaders)
This is brilliant, exactly what I want to see added to vanilla factorio but I don't like its dependency on loaders.
Can you make the boxes with built in inputs and outputs so they act like compression splitters?

Re: Assembling Machines
That seems more of a problem with copypasting recipes on requester chests which, I agree, is kind of crap and I wish it went back to just 2x the resources or have some sort of option to adjust it yourself.
