Re: (to be changed by the creator) Is Boring and Inefficient
Laying tracks side by side looks way better than the (very unrealistically) spaced tracks that most people tend to do – for no prevailing reason whatsoever.
Here's a factory with a side-by-side tracks network that works wonderfully . Obviously it doesn't comply with OP's suggestion, which sounds ...

Re: [0.12.1] Personal roboport doesn't work as expected
Just wanna add my +1 to this, I've also found this to be quite annoying.
Something that kind of works is having blueprints of individual items in your hotbar. However it becomes a little annoying because blueprints seem to refuse to stay under your cursor (they always get offset a tile to the left ...

Re: What do you call the updates?
If the numbers persist that's fine. What bothers me is if you're talking to people (or rather, reading on the interwebs) and they mention the so-and-so update instead of version 0.X, I usually have no clue what they're talking about.
A lot of Linux distributions do this, e.g. Ubuntu. People talking ...

Re: What do you call the updates?
Don't mean to be a buzzkill but I really } hope those don't catch on. Named updates are just such an inconvenience. When I'm talking about updates I want to know when it happened, if it's recent or old, if I already have it, if it's stable or not etc. All those things I can tell from the version ...

Funny, I was just thinking about doing something like this just the other day. Guess there is always somebody faster :D

Re: End Belts
Well with a complex multi-belts setup, turning the belt is not always an option.
I can only think of a single situation in which turning the belt into the inserter would not work, and that is if you are using a single inserter to pick up more than three different item types from two belts coming ...

Re: Tool like AMIDST for Factorio?
@Talguy Terrain in Minecraft is also generated dynamically. AMIDST uses the same generation algorithm to render a large maps of the biomes independently of an individual game save. The same principle could work without trouble for Factorio.

Reason it's good:
Very compact, looks cool, I assume you made sure all the ratios are (close to) perfect. So that's cool.
Reason it's not amazing:
As with so many of the mini-challenges in Factorio, it doesn't solve a real problem. You made it very compact, which is a real achievement, but there is ...

Just FYI, before the flaming starts: This happens a lot and new players post these islands about once every few days. People tend to get very annoyed.
I think this was the last one that got properly flamed.

+1
"In modern military usage, a missile, or guided missile, is a self-propelled precision-guided munition system, as opposed to an unguided self-propelled munition, referred to as a rocket."
I guess that differenciation only applies to weapons though, because I really hope those non-military ...

Re: [12.1] Powerarmor "eats" the items if inserted with crtl+lmb
Had a hunch, did some testing, got confirmation. The item's don't get eaten, they get put into one of your logistic trash slots and are taken away by a bot. Though I'd definitely consider it a bug. Looks like this wasn't quite all there is to it. x)

Re: rocket defence ( silo )
Getting into space isn't in the game yet, it was postponed to version 0.13.
Launching a rocket with a satellite on board is currently the end goal of the game.
edit: lol, triple reply. You guys were quick. xD

Re: [0.12.0] Shift/Control clicking with Logistic trash slots
This would make the personal robot-port very useful. As it is now, I have to put an active provider chest next to me when I use the personal robot-port, so I can quickly get rid of stuff that they bring to me while deconstructing things, especially trees and chests. It really depends on the amount ...

Source management and Licensing for Mods
Consider this thread the start (hopefully) of an open discussion, though mostly a question/suggestion directed at modders. Also maybe a bit of a rant.
