Re: Second set of keys to bind for control
Yes. I have troubles to fight with the current layout (coming on E), it makes also problems with macs without external mouse (right click with two fingers doesn't work!) or older keyboards and would appreciate having many layouts, to test, which works and which not. Also needed then, is an easier ac...

Yes, sometimes that could be very useful.
Some layers:
- terrain
- resources (incl. forest and fish)
- enemy
- train
- electricity (default off)
- the other buildings/belts
- bots (default off)

Re: Help me get back to this game !
EDIT: Oh and lines for copper wires need to be shifted - red inserters cant keep up. Hm. :ugeek: Experience says, it is definitely a bad idea to transport wires over belts. They can't keep up, because 1 copper bar= 2 copper wires. The only useful way to transport them is by updated inserters and if...

Re: Combat system far too fast?
I also think it is too fast, but I have some ideas. - to reduce the overall speed, the player (and biters!) can be slowed down. This is possible, if we allow him to be fast inside his factory. Two possibilities: a) roads. The player can built roads on which he is faster. Roads are cheap and easy to ...

Do you have enough power for 5 radars? If not, this is the effect.

Re: Help me get back to this game !
I already said this some times: Good working layouts in factorio are always "dirty". A good transport in factorio is short and fast. A "symetric" layout means, that both ways are delivered equally, but is that really right? Lines and lines of belts mean, that they must be filled ...

Re: better Electric Network management
I had a different idea there, by just using the substation we have, and when it has the signal, the connection is deactivated, so it can split the network in two. Hehe. Nice. Question: Is a connection to another network possible with that? Like with the accu? Some notes: It has not always a use to ...

Re: Network info help
Hmm... I use several networks to limit the power for the radar, which is very useful. Nearly the same trick as with the on/off-switch for steam-engines: Place an accu, place one pole with SHIFT-key, so that the accu is in both networks, place the radar so, that it is connected to the single pole onl...

Re: Network info help
Yes, but has a logical reason: Production-info is the overall production and network-info is ... per network. You can have several power-networks.

Re: Some notes about trains and tracks
This is nice list. I will use it as reference when improving the rails (probably not this release though). Thanks. It was thought exactly for that.:) We know about lot of these problems and have plan for some of them. For example, the problem with spacing of inserters in station, we would make it, ...

Some notes about trains and tracks
I played a lot around with trains. They really make fun. :) I found also some situations, which are not so fun. The tracks/signals I think the pathfinding algorithms can be tuned: as long, as trains can only turn at stations, it should look, if a block forces one way (because of signal) in a number ...

I cannot speak for the devs, but as I'm also a software developer I would say this is a complete bug report.

Nice suggestions... I want to answer in reverse order... To the research: should there be a warning, before switching? Partial research has been discussed last week: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1637 1b: yes a map would be fine. A rectangle area in which you can change t...

Re: Friday Facts 8
Yes, that looks quite good. The editor has now a much more logic design. From what I saw in pic. :) To the chests filing, what I would await is like so: first I select the slots I want to fill with the same item. Perhaps the new slot selector can be reused/extended? Then I have keys/buttons to fill/...

Despite from the above comment: 1: Sometimes I think yes, sometime no. If you know me: when __I__ think so about it, it is definitely no. :) The games goes really in another direction and we ( edit : we = forum members) need to think bigger. 2: It's generally a bad idea to depend on timing because w...

If force doesn't work, use brute force. And if that doesn't work either, try a reboot.

Re: Crash during loading, 0.7.5, mac osx 10.6.8
If the file isn't there you may have installed it with another user? Start the mac terminal. (go to launch pad and search for terminal) type: $ sudo find / -d -name factorio If you don't have root-rights remove "sudo" and try it as current user. The output should look somelike so: ./Applic...
