I like how the OP signed up just to post how awesome artillery is. No second post or anything.

Re: [Bots] Bot-tle your Rage

I wish I had a penny for every "don't nerf bots, buff belts" post.

This does not belong here, it is not a suggestion. You should have posted it in the FFF threads.

Re: Let us override inserters remove fuel from furnaces

There is a big difference between normal inputs and fuel. On the other hand for most things the recipe time and number of inputs makes ripple effects highly inefficient for most cases. It only works for fuel (and science) because of the slow consumption. Hmmm... you do got a point there. Well, I su...

Re: Let us override inserters remove fuel from furnaces

You could have the ripple effect on all factories, i.e. pass through both inputs and outputs between identical factories.
However, this would trivialize many setups and be detrimental to the challenges of the game.

I think the same holds for passing fuel between furnaces. -1

Re: Conveyor belt speed (blue)

If it's done like my suggestion, we can efficiently use splitters as one blue feed 2 red who feed 2 yellow. You can use splitters efficiently now as well since one blue belt can feed a red and a yellow while the red one can feed two yellow. The fractional throughput is a side-effect of how the belt...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

Robots are still fairly heavily favoured, but I wouldn't be so hasty to assume that we've got three easily filled niches. There's more costs to the player to balance, than just space, flexibility and throughput. Yes you are right. I actually included the question to the community to discuss those m...

Not entirely. They still have their use in e.g. train smelting setups and similar contraptions.

Re: logistics/programming/signals...

We do not need all that higher order stuff. We need a single addition: the ability to form abstractions. I.e. the ability to construct a composite combinator from basic components and put that down where required. There have been many suggestions ranging from just labeling combinators to factorissim...

Re: Friday Facts #226 - New mod portal & other news

Are the splitter improvements still coming? I don't see why not. The underlying problem still exists, anything that makes belts better is a good change. I always saw the splitter improvements as a fix for the loss of old-style splitter sorting. Technically it was already possible with circuit netwo...

Oh please, playing a game for a long time does not make it a special interest. Nor does being overly organized or being a perfectionist imply that you have OCD. Please refrain from diagnosing the playerbase as being on the spectrum. You really cannot state that based on hobbies and/or a couple of fo...

It also helps to draw items from both sides of a belt by building factories on both sides. Balanced by design.

We learn both in school. Rule of thumb Science is done in metric. Doesn't this create a gap between scientists and non-scientists? I can imagine that those that do not use metric regularly completely lose the feeling for it. I would expect that this would create a "metric is hard" mentali...

As long as all output belts run there is no problem, but when from time to time the wrong output belt backs up, the whole balancer tends to jam up.
You can use a circuit network to avoid it from backing up.

Re: belt splitter ratio

I feel like these building blocks are getting too powerful. Create the network such that each branch goes through exactly the same number of splitters and loop some branches back to the input to create the proper ratios instead.
