The current atomic weapons is really just a very strong rocket launcher ammo.

It would be cool if we had missile based nukes, very expensive, shot from a rocket silo.

Show range of character to build things

Current:
Trial & Error to find out if you are in range. Object ghost turns green when in range.

Problem:
Not a good UX flow. Need to move building-ghost to see range.

Proposed:
Show range around character
(Highlight, circle, slight glow, etc.)

Game should add plutonium for nukes.
Just like real life, the stuff that is used for generating electricity is not really used to make nuclear bombs. Sure, you have the inter dependencies, and breeding etc. but in largely HEU is used for power, and Plutonium is used for weapons.

Resources at the start need to be reliable but not too much in quantity.
They need get bigger and richer the farther out they are. Progressing with distance as well as challenge.

Agree. Speed was just one method that is a "soft factor". You are more thinking in the direction of a hard cap. That would work too. Locking the maximum zoom is not infact a hard limit. The player can explore as usual. But the average new player (which you were mostly concerned with) will...
