[2.0.7] Map zoom level is not saving

Steam client, updated from previous version 1.x.x. Win 64. Only 3 Wube mods.
Started a new game, default settings, with little modified resource richness.
When I press 'm' or tab to see the map it always opens at maximum zoom.
I change map zoom using mouse wheel (up).
After I close map and open it ...

Re: Mods for 1st expansion run

If you want to complete new achievements, you have to play without player made mods.
Or cheat a little by switching them on/off at a right time.

Re: Factorio 3.0

No one can predict next expansion/addon until at least a year pass after release of latest major version, for any standalone game.
Even if they plan not to create anymore addons, good sales and some mod ideas, may give a hint, what kind update is needed.
Same time, even if there are some unclear ...

When it will be available on Steam tomorrow? Someone guess is 12pm UTC, but that just a guess. Any announced time?

Re: Friday Facts #433 - Liftoff Initiated

I'm curious to know how this will work with achievements, as they are usually disabled with mods.
Should be different for 2.0. Since some achies are clearly for Space Age, like reach another planet.
I think user made mods will differ from dev's made mods.

BTW New Steam achievements are already there, just can't be completed yet, since the game client do not support them yet, until 2.0

Re: Friday Facts #433 - Liftoff Initiated

today i do better overclock my CPU and RAM,

Just RAM usually enough. Bottleneck of tick processing is to iterate whole megabase belts, structures, bots and so on. Not a processing power.

On one layer I can create Factory about 10k SPM with mods.
On 5 planets ... i can reach much smaller and ...

Re: Friday Facts #433 - Liftoff Initiated

Train death avoidance - it's so much wanted and so cool feature!

For megabase building I usually play slightly modded Factorio, with a few QoL things: loaders, storehouses, water wells, and train invincibility.

For a new Space Age game I was planning to play vanilla again. But was always ...

I know this might be a bit nitpicky and I also know that it is just a game, but... am I the only one that gets thrown off that the railgun has a cratridge that gets ejected? I mean the basic principle of a Railgun is to take basically a metal spear and yeet it forward using magnets (I will let ...

Re: Friday Facts #396 - Sound improvements in 2.0

I understand that adding a lot of complex sounds to the game is a lot of work.
But, when you play for many hours, often you wish the game to be less noisy. So only sounds that are informative should be heard.
Base Factorio 1.1 sound is quite comfortable. Nothing is too loud, maybe with exception of ...

Will the smart inserter upgrade (so, the new filters for all inserters) be available at start or it has to be unlocked with a new tech?

I do not think that it will be available at start. It will be either at Fast Inserter, like in current game, or with a new tech.

I think, like it was correctly ...

Ah, once again, 2 epilepsy points.

I'm actually epileptic I find annoying to see people making their point using this condition. Can't you just say "I dislike it" ?

I also vote against new faster belt introduction in base game. I think none tricks will make it looks much better. And currently ...

Re: Friday Facts #393 - Putting things on top of other things

Do I got it right, that we'll get only stacking on belts, and number of belts stays the same? I.e. no faster then blue belt will appear?

If it's so, I like it. I used Ultimate belts mod once, just to add 1 or 2 tier of belts, when I missed throughput in some modded game, probably in IR*. But I was ...

Re: Friday Facts #389 - Train control improvements

I like the idea, but I disagree with naming. It should be called CONDITION not INTERRUPT .

When you initially invented interrupts as a way to refuel, it was working as interrupt in a fixed schedule just to go and refill. But for now, when whole railway transportation system logic can be made on ...

Re: What FPS/UPS do you usually play at?

I play at 60 FPS. Recently upgraded a 4.5year old PC, fps drops below 60 was one of the reasons. After hardware replacement, I thought once, that it's a bit expensive way to stay at 60 fps  but I usually do upgrades every five years.

I also did some investigation about what hardware component ...

Not sure yet. The QOL improvements are pretty nice, but the new content so far looks rather meh..

New content are several big mods, as we got it. If you do not like one particular feature, like Quality, you can just disable that mod.

In whole, I'm quite surprised that there are people who are ...

Re: The big question: Are you going to try v2?

Of course, I'll buy new Factorio expansion as soon as it will be available!

I just don't know yet, is it more fun to adapt existing base with 4k SPM or start a new game.

Usually I found starting phases of new Factorio type games less interesting, compared to expanding and upgrading already build ...

Re: Friday Facts #381 - Space Platforms

As it was already mentioned, space platform surface look is disturbing. For factory building we prefer grass or some homogenous flat surface, to easy long time observations.

When we build factories on main planet, we can always pick some nice green grass or sandy terrain spot, and comfortably place ...

If server will allow only item and data package transfer between distant surfaces, that happens at the end of each tick this will keep the system deterministic, but will allow communication and item transfer.
When one send a rocket to another planet or space platform (like in Space Exploration) it ...
