Any chance of a recording?
I'd love to be there but it's a long walk and also some swimming too.

Re: Factorio Roadmap
Thanks a lot Kovarex!
It was running so well for 10 hours of 700 robots and tons of chests and then performance plummeted.
I guess it didn't like the couple extra I added.
I'm upgrading my preorder, because you guys have been so patient with me, and just great generally. =P

If you really wanted to complicate factorio, you could try to explain the magic that makes transport belts move
I thought it was obvious.

Re: Factorio Roadmap
I don't want to sound pushy, and I know you guys have plenty of more important stuff to do. But I was wondering if you've had the chance to look into my save? I can't figure out why it doesn't run as well as another save that has a much bigger factory. I've been wanting to play foctorio for the past...

Re: Easier Movement?
I was thinking it would be kewl to have catwalks that go over stuff. Made from a mesh material so you can still see underneath them a bit. Would also make you factories look more factoryee. :? So you could just leave places blank to walk around but when you need to get over tons of belts and don't w...

Re: [UI] making UI scalable / additional UI icons and font
Hi, I play in 2560X1600 all the time when testing, and find it fine, but maybe I'm strange. Lot of stuff in the game is scaled already fonts, non-graphical buttons, etc. Just those item/technology buttons are not scaled, but we might do that sooner or later. Yeah seems fine to me too, Sorry tomsson.

Re: [Bug] Cargo Wagon randomly disappear.
Creepers do not like trains. And even with defense a creeper or two will get through and slowly whittle down their health till destruction. So you need to defend the whole railway track to protect them atm. But they are planning on fixing this stuff. With train repairs and better collision with cree...

Re: [0.4.1]not connected water pipes are heated
I don't remember, but I thought water just sat there and stayed the same temperature if it wasn't being used. That hot water could be just sitting there while fresh water is bypassing it to be used for the active pipelines. From my experience parallel piping doesn't work as well because then water w...

Re: Laser turrets allways cause blackouts.
I doubt the engines have an actual latency. They only have a max. power output. Capacitors don't have any visible max. power output. The lasers are so power hungry, that their consumption combined simply outweights the production combined. Well the burners won't all be going if your not using the m...

Re: Laser turrets allways cause blackouts.
Its not always about how many steam engines you have. Keep in mind that you need quite a few boilers to keep up the temperature. The more electrial demand the faster hot water gets used. I have about 10 steam engines all attached to 1 pump between 16 boilers. Its the boilers that help me prevent bl...

Re: Factorio Roadmap
a) For most people the render is higher than 3%, when I zoom out in big factory, it is something like 30% for me. b) The division of render/update is just the first step, we also plan to divide the update into separate threads, not all actions could be divided this way, but some, that works just lo...

Re: How to use / refuel trains
Right click on train and then click the little circle loop near the top-left. Put fuel in there.
You can also get a chest and arm to put fuel into a stationary train.
Automated trains are explained here:

Two links to help explain, cause I'm lazy and don't want to explain myself (and I looked it up to make sure I was right lol) Stackexchange question "what can multiple threads do that a single thread cannot" and a short article which might sum it up better but basically with a single threa...

Factorio 0.5.0 (expected release at the beginning of June): [*] (Maybe) Speed improvements [/*] - Thread separation of render and updater
Just a quick and possibly ignorant question. If you split those up into separate threads. Will that really offer much performance improvement? I ...

Re: Body Recycling
Decoration? put their heads on stakes and it will repel them from that area or make them prefer a different path. Another use for wood, and decorative! Maybe the flying transports could go over and grab the heads after they are killed, in addition to collecting them by hand. Gruesome, but useful in...

Re: Awaited Indie Games Thread
A note about Gnomoria! Gnomoria is not a Dwarf Fortress with GUI. It only uses similar setting but that is all. Also Gnomorias developer has no intention of making a Dwarf Fortress clone but rather something uniqe. It the closest thing so far to a DF with GUI though, and IMO that makes is great. I ...

Re: My first factory
Yes, stuff that needs to be upgraded to make them really useful will be added. 1) Trains can move both directions (already prepared for the next release) 2) Stations can be connected into groups, and train will choose one of them, so you can have multistations 3) Trains will take other trains/semap...

Re: My first factory
Trains should only be venerable when not moving IMO. Literally invincible when moving would be fine I think. Heck I would even be fine if when they did stop creepers focused on destroying them. So you have to defend the stations well. But defending the whole track sucks. =/ What if they could run o...

Re: My first factory
I want to see trains in action :) Me too. Sadly, I am afraid I'll wait. I haven't discovered any way how to get them from one secure area into another in a reliable way that wouldn't include turrets along the entire route. I have no idea how long shall the cargo loading take, I am too lazy to measu...
