Is there a mod or do I use vanilla signaling(combinators) to warn me (in a huge base) when items run short ?

That answers it, thank you all :) one last thing, I left power lines and lasers outside my fort. A few hours later when I went back I saw the lasers had no power and a few poles down the line one pole was missing. The reason I posted this thread was because I had never seen biters attack power lines...
