Re: Version 0.18.18
My main takeaway here is that people are hearing different things loudly, or quietly. Normally that should be an indicator of sounds that rely heavily on a narrow frequency spectrum or are too high/low pitched. But as there was an increment of maximum concurrrent sounds that can be heard at once, m...

Re: Increase Big Electric Pole Wire Reach to 32 to = Chunk Size
... odd pickup-behaviour of inserters at chunk borders ... First i've heard of this. More info? This could go in a bug report. Inserters behave subtly different when inserter, pickup traget, and drop target are not in the same chunk. They are also updated by chunk - leading to the effect that they ...

Re: Is it time to give the pistol the steel axe treatment
It's time for is finding out if these reposts from reddit are actually made by people, or by bots. I'm guessing bot for this one. Why do you feel like it's time for is finding out if these reposts from reddit are actually made by people, or by bots? Because if it is bots, those accounts should be b...

Re: Is it time to give the pistol the steel axe treatment
The pistol should be axed. It should just be the smg from the start. Its stats should always be the same as that of the machine gun turret. Biter starting strength (damage, armor, hitpoints, group size) might be adjusted accordingly.

Re: A final note about Industrial Revolution
The copy of license.txt in my pre-takedown IR version is Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International so I think the current license on the portal was just an artifact of the whole takedown-restore thing that went on, reuploaded under the wrong license. In that case, the mod is using t...

Re: Pipette tool on damaged entity should select repair pack
Your first hotbar should always contain repair packs and fish! currently, the pipette feature is selecting the item wich builds the corresponding entity all the time (it gives a ghost if i don't have the item in my backpack). -1 for making it sometimes behave differently. If you want a QoL improveme...

Re: Friday Facts #341 - Audio, Artillery, Attenuation
The introduction of the artillery shell ejection sound is the perfect excuse for making the artillery actually produce an empty shell for each round fired.

Re: A final note about Industrial Revolution
The judgmental rebuke you implied in that final question probably constitutes a good example of the answer to it. If you mean the "killing", that is just because normally, artists are not deleting or destroying their own work because of what others do or think (except, when the act of doi...

Re: A final note about Industrial Revolution
I had the impression that players where pretty happy about IR and having their mods featured in FFF, twitch, and youtube seems to be a good predictor of modder satisfaction too.

Re: Walls should be buildable in strips like rails
Definitely a +1.
I like diagonal walls and most of the time building them while running diagonally works just fine. But if it doesn't it is a pain to remove the misplaced entities. Rail-planner-like behaviour would be really nice to have.

Too bad they did not knew you from the start. They could just have licensed your game engine and would have spared themselves all the trouble.

Re: Friday Facts #340 - Deep desyncs
Wow. You guys just keep making rookie's mistakes when it comes to programming, it's embarrassing. yeah, they had a quick release recently because looking at the world in map view caused it to crash almost immediately. Wube really should have outsourced making the engine to you two. Obviously, havin...

Re: Friday Facts #338 - The (real) Character GUI
I too always assumed it would become a slow-moving combat vehicle, not a player-mobility-enhancer. It was presented as a vehicle able to traverse shallow water though. If it could effortlessly traverse cliffs (wich did not exist back then) and forests too, it would improve player mobility a lot. Bu...

Re: Sad Weekend
Also sometimes it's actually nicer to *not* make someone addicted to something just because you're addicted yourself... It obviouysly is completely different when it comes to Factorio addiction though. Being addicted to Factorio is a gift in itself. Unlike other drugs, there is no withdrawal becaus...

Re: "Sync mod versions" option when loading a save
If a mod breaks a save on update, this is definitely a bug. File a report to the mod author and wait for a fix implementing proper migration. Mod updates that can't be made to properly migrate old saves aren't actually updates and should never be deployed as such. They are new mods and should come w...

IDK, I'm conflicted. Glad that she loved the game and enjoys it albeit pirated, but again, it's pirated. And all it took was for something like this to happen to get her to play. Stuff's too crazy, yo, for real. Don't worry. Factorio is addictive and of unprecedented quality. She will want to buy a...

Re: Friday Facts #339 - Beacon HR + Redesign process
This design is closer to witchcraft than technology. Beacons are one of the most witchcrafty thing in the game. So having a witchcrafty design is okay. I personally already avoid using them (also not using laser turrets). Would still like the new design as a low-range tesla-turret lighting up biter...

Re: Friday Facts #339 - Beacon HR + Redesign process
I like the new tesla tower design. The new low-range high-dps area-of-effect defense will be the perfect addition to flame trower setups.
