Re: Handling precise fluid amounts... how?

Thanks, but I tried that and explain in the OP why that doesn't work.

Handling precise fluid amounts... how?

My question: How do I handle fluids in EXACT amounts reliably? I'm looking for ways to do precise fluid handling. Hooking up a pump to enable/disable at a certain amount of fluid in a tank doesn't work, it overshoots the mark: https://i.imgur.com/GRZJ5Ku.png Worse, it seems that the overshoot is who...

Re: Station setup w/o inserters/slight tutorial request

Depot: nope!
The point of the mod is that you have one central depot (or several with different trains) that serve all stations. Each train can be used for all tasks it's equipped for. So basically you set up one massive depot with a good stacker and send all trains there.

Re: [MOD 0.16] vlads water like in 0.15

I see. :)

Well, like you said, it's not a major issue. It's clear where 0.16 does it's jittery thing, I can just ignore those areas or landfill them (or waterfill them with a mod). Thanks a million for this, now I get to enjoy 0.16 :D

Re: [MOD 0.16] vlads water like in 0.15

Thanks for this! It's not perfect, but it does really help out a lot for continuing my 0.15 map. It's weird... It seems like it actually overlaps the nice 0.15 continents with the garbled mess that 0.16 makes... but only in the center. The further out we go, the less small junk islands are littered ...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

I agree with Twinsen, bots are OP, no fun, and break immersion and the challenge the game should be about. I've been playing Twinsen's "suggested" way for a while: Logistic Bots only ever do inventory management, never throughput. I like the idea of keeping them, but vastly limiting their ...

Re: OmniSmelter. One Oven to Smelt them All!

Very cool. But I would not enjoy wiring up all those combinators manually :) We need some kind of grouping or abstraction mechanic on combinators and wires. It was quite frustrating re-doing it the 7 times I overhauled the thing, I'll admit :p I don't know about making circuit wiring easier, part o...

Re: OmniSmelter. One Oven to Smelt them All!

Any chance for a version using only logistic bots? With bots, things become quite a bit easier I suppose. I'd use this basic repeatable structure: White inserters are on "Set Filter" and stack size 10. https://i.imgur.com/sAsqVUw.png All requester chests send their contents to a decider, ...

Re: Fuel Conserving Nuclear Power Setup

Nice! Re: optimization. The circuit network doesn't update unless something changes. That counter is going to spam updates in there. What you can do is use a 'belt clock': a trivial item on a circular belt that gets detected each time it comes around. I find it to be less elegant, but when pressed f...

Re: 0.16 Map generation Feedback

Iam not a fan of the new water/land generation. Iam 15hrs in my 0.16 map and was wondering about the watergeneration so i used the command to reveal the map and its basically a maze with small seas and small land stripes inbetween. For this playthrough i will use the mod "no lakes" which ...

Re: [POLL] Concrete in 0.16

This is rapidly deteriorating into a nitpicky internet argument, and i'll cease and desist on that front. I apologize for my part in that.

On topic: we agree it would be nice to have a "flat floor" option, but disagree on the importance of it. Simple enough.

Re: [POLL] Concrete in 0.16

You may not understand, your factory may be different, but I am telling you that with the current concrete without alteration it is unplayable for me. If you want to imagine that I am exaggerating for some reason that is your choice, but you could also imagine how it would feel if you couldn't play...

Re: [POLL] Concrete in 0.16

I think people are being too melodramatic about it tbh. Yes, in huge slabs, concrete has looked better. I only used it for roads and edges, and it looks MUCH better now. I think theres room for improvement, the suggestion to make a third surface type which is just a flat plane could work. It could e...

Re: OmniSmelter. One Oven to Smelt them All!

You are running the belt past several furnaces. If the input belt is sparse don't you run the risk of the second furnace getting one stone and then the first furnace finishes and picks up the second stone mend for the second furnace? If you switch recipes at that point 2 furnaces will be left with ...

OmniSmelter. One Oven to Smelt them All!

Intro In a game with my friend Riithi, he built a pretty cool smelting setup for Iron and Copper, and called it the OmniSmelter. It responded dynamically to demand, and smelted only what was needed. He called it the OmniSmelter, but I kept renaming his stations to MultiSmelter, because it didn't do...
