That's ... what a night is. You plan your work to do all driving during the day, and work on local staff at night.
This is harder when hitting on biters bases, but for that we have night-vision goggles

Re: Character Animation

Hm, those 0.16 screens look nicer than my game IRL.
My settings are on "High".
Is there something that could affect rendering on Windows?

Re: Character Animation

It is in 0.16, see FFF 218 . Are you using 0.16 and have sprite resolution set to high? Yes I do. I looked closely and noticed that the size of pixels is the same for the character and for new HD machinery, so they are of the same resolution. The problem is that on the character the pixilation is m...

Character Animation

I have heard that a general transformation to high-definition graphics is going on for a while. Is the character graphics going to be improved in the same way? I am asking because the player character animation is something that I am looking at all the time. And right now the character animation is ...

Re: Show range of character to build things

Yes please! This is very confusing and frustrating to new players who haven't learned the building range yet. I have seen numerous Factorio reviews when the author can't place a building because of the range and thinks there is something wrong with the game. He is an example of that: https://www.you...

Re: Cliff climbing (and angled belts)

Mp0011 , how will the graphics work in places where a cliff gradually merges into the main level?

Notice how my screenshot has problems with level merges, and yours just doesn't have them at all.

Re: Cliff climbing (and angled belts)

I see a problem with projection. The cliffs are fake. If a pipe (or a belt) is running in the east-west direction and climbs up a cliff, then then the pipe tile on top of a cliff would have to be a little closer to the top of a screen, than the tile on the bottom. That complicates things. On one ha...

Cliff climbing (and angled belts)

Factorio 0.16 added some cool cliffs, and I think everyone expects some sweet game mechanics around them Cliff climbing The character definitely should be able to climb a cliff, up and down. I mean, what is more fun than running from biters, climbing a cliff, turning around and shooting them from ab...

That would be a nice addition! IRL this feature is know as lane-keep assist, which keeps a car on a lane unless a bigger steering force is applied by the driver

Re: What is "non-blocking saving"?

Thanks, posila! A few questions:

- The GUI contained that option even thou I was on Windows. Is it as intended?
- Where in the GUI do I find that option for single player?
- Is there a genuine way to contribute to Factorio on the level of source code? Was it a special arrangement?

Re: Nuclear disasters

It is a common misconception that a reactor can explode. Well, technically you are correct - a modern reactor will shut down itself before any damage is done even if everything goes wrong (including electronics). But wouldn't it be cool if the power of the atomic bomb could be turned against the pl...

Re: Nuclear disasters

I like the idea of having a risk associated with nuclear power, just like IRL. "With great power comes great responsibility", and that would be a literal implementation of this principal. One way to model it would be to lower the HP of the reactor with random small hits while it generates ...

Wow, that is really cool!
I must load it to see for myself. Could you please fix the server? I can't load the save as it is now :(

Maybe it makes sense to share huge saves as torrents?
Whatever works for you is fine by me, but I understand the trouble to keep a server just to share a save

What is "non-blocking saving"?

When trying to host a game I am presented with several settings, one of which is "allow non-blocking saving".

What does it mean? What does this setting changes? How does it work?
Can it be used for a single-play game?
Is it only available on Windows?

Thanks!
