Once you've made the decision to purchase the game, I highly recommend you purchase from humble bundle. It'll give you a steam key and the devs get more profit than from buying from steam.

I have found the map to be pretty inconsistent. That said its still a good overview of everything and has its uses

Back onto topic, I feel infinite water is definitely a balance choice that is needed for the game. It would be way to frustrating if it wasn't infinite

I believe the point of not having this is because hand crafting is supposed to be annoying. Automation is supposed to make things easier.

I've learned to just forego the achievements all together. Right now they just aren't worth the trouble. Any mod disables them and there are a lot of QOL mods out there needed. Waiting for a rework of achievements before I start hunting them down.

Firewall on your friend's end might be a cause. But your internet is probably being eaten up by other things. The server is uploading more than just the map to your friend so it's obviously going to slowed down.

Never found the main focus of the game to be the aliens. I mostly play on peaceful because I just see them as a headache right now.
