Re: Logistics net: Less research needed

I think pretty cool would be moving logistic research to purple science AND making req chests cost blue circuits instead. This is a good point. It would certainly help justify the placement of requester chests at a higher tier of science like yellow or purple if the cost of the actual chests was al...

Re: Logistics net: Less research needed

If you get the logistics network so late, you'll not learn how it works in an evolving factory - you'll not be able to try it out until you're practically at the endgame. So how will new players be able to compare belts vs bots vs trains if the bots aren't yet available? Won't this be true for ever...

Re: Logistics net: Less research needed

This change takes away from the game, makes it less enjoyable. Forces a particular play style for longer, rather than giving choice. This is the price you have to pay for having progression in any game, otherwise why have a tech tree at all? If the game does not impose a path of progression then yo...

Re: Logistics net: Less research needed

I guess my main reason for talking in this thread so much is that I want to make sure that any balance change to this would be done for the right reasons. This is just my opinion, but nostalgia for how we were always able to do something in the past would not be a good enough reason to revert this c...

Re: 0.15 Oil Rebalancing - Too Far?

Don't forget to factor in the randomness of map generation. Those of you who feel oil was too plentiful, how many new maps have you played since 0.15 came out? Oil availability had been a fairly common complaint here on the forums, so I can see why they tweaked the numbers to be higher. You always h...

Re: Logistics net: Less research needed

Bulk moving stuff by hand just to get something done just seems... wrong to me. Not having access to requester chests does not equate to having to do things by hand. By the time you would be even considering logistic bots you already have belts and trains available. If you are desperate for that re...

No overlap for map text labels

I would like to see the text labels that are on the map not overlapping each other. Perhaps the labels can be shifted around to ensure they don't obscure one another. This is especially a problem for train stop labels in the map view, but I imagine it might be an issue for all other types of labels ...

Re: Uranium deposits

After getting hold auf a sizeable quantity of U 238 is it possible to cycle them in a loop to get out the needed U235? You cannot process U-238 into U-235 apart from the kovarex enrichment process, but you can process raw ore for a 0.7% chance at some U-235. With the kovarex enrichment process it t...

Re: Is that piece of junk toy rocket an atomic bomb ???!

Are you kidding me? I have radar coverage on about 2 square km and all i have are 2 tiny uranium patches totaling about 80k. I mined out 15k and only got 12 U-235. 7 of which I used to make rods. I am at the point of shutting down my reactor so I can get enough to just start enrichment. I strongly ...

Re: Uranium deposits

You can't run out of any ore on an infinite map. You're just having bad luck with the specific map generation settings. Venture out further and you'll find more eventually. As to whether or not uranium is a special case and has smaller patch sizes compared to other resources, I would imagine that to...

Re: 0.15 Iron vs Copper balance

Well it would help if we could come up with some uses for Copper apart from electricity. When you look at the recipes, pretty much every use of copper relates to electrical use, generation, or transmission. Copper is not used for anything structural. Iron plates have both gear wheels and steel which...

Re: Logistics net: Less research needed

Yes, the logistics chests that are currently locked off are not that much of a leap in technology from the Passive Provider and Storage Chests we got unlocked with the bots, which makes the current requirements seem very artificial. The Requester and Active Provider Chests are really just taking th...

Re: Friday Facts #189 - Specifying the 1.0

This is the story of life in 0.15: 0.15.9 Iron shortage.jpg When compared to 0.14.x, the iron usage for science packs is through the roof. My current map is only the first 5 science packs (no high tech or space science yet). I have almost 4 times the iron production compared to copper and that is no...

Usually not far enough, lol. Every time I think I've planned for enough space I end up I always end up with spaghetti.

Re: Train Signals Not Outputting?

I expect it to read the state of the signal. This is exactly what it does. The state of the RS is whether or not a train is in the block (red), about to enter the block (yellow), or empty (green). You have to remember the RS's job is to pay attention to trains, so when you read the RS this is what ...

It's a known bug that was fixed in a recent version, make sure you update your game to the newest version (0.15.9 last I checked).

Re: Train Signals Not Outputting?

The RS outputs the default red = 1 signal if there is a train in that block. If there is no train in the block but the RS is visually red then that is due entirely to your circuit conditions. The RS will not output a red signal at all if there is no train in that block, it does not generate a red = ...

Re: Trains - supply-push, or demand-pull?

I prefer simplicity whenever possible and trains are a good example. There's no best way to do it, it's all a matter of preference. Any issues of congestion will depend on your layout and how well you planned the flow. In my games, all my trains have a single cargo type with a few exceptions. An exa...

Re: Logistics net: Less research needed

You only need 150 of each science pack (except military and space I think) to unlock the requester chests. If you're that desperate then just craft some science by hand or with a throwaway assembler + chest setup. 150 science packs is not very prohibitive. I like the fact that there is a split now f...

Re: A new twist on the RPM mega base challenge

Certainly map settings and mods would make a difference one way or the other, but as a core idea, an RPM factory consuming all of its space science is a good place to start for a mega base challenge.
